Horse Racing picks for Santa Anita race track on Saturday, June 18: Blue Stripe can earn her stripes

Santa Anita Horse Racing on Dirt

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Saturday, including at Santa Anita race track. We have been on fire with our picks for a long time now, and are up +307.43 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5. Let’s keep it rolling!

We also have best bets for the final day at Royal Ascot this morning!

Here are our best bets for today’s action at Santa Anita.

4:00 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 1) – Flintmore 2/1 (2-star play)

Flintmore has shown good form in 5 starts, including when finishing a head 2nd in a maiden special weight over this course and distance at the start of May.

He had previously finished 5 lengths 2nd over a furlong shorter at Santa Anita and the Flintshire gelding looks capable of getting off the mark in this contest having delivered some solid work at the track since scratching from a maiden special weight at the end of last month.

5:00 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 3) – Tom’s Regret 6/5 (2-star play)

Tom’s Regret joined her current connections for $390,000 having won both her previous starts including the 5-furlong Kentucky Juvenile Stakes at Churchill Downs early last month. She has made all the running in both starts so far and sets the standard having delivered strong speed figures on each occasion.

Her regular jockey Tyler Baze is booked for the ride and having drawn post position 5 he can steer the daughter of budget sire Tom’s Tribute to a 3rd consecutive victory.

6:38 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 6) – Havana Love 3/1 (2-star play)

Havana Love had some good form in Italy, winning 3 times, and while she has proved a disappointment on her first 2 starts since switching across the Atlantic, the move to California and the Doug O’Neill barn nearly reaped immediate dividends when she finished runner-up in an allowance optional claimer over 6 furlongs at Santa Anita last month.

The extra half-furlong should prove no issue as she has won over further and she is taken to provide jockey Juan J Hernandez with a winner.

7:08 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 7) – Blue Stripe 5/2 (2-star play)

Blue Stripe ended her time in Argentina with a Grade 1 victory at the start of May. She made little impact when sent off at big odds in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff on her US debut in November, but showed improved form when delivering a length success over a mile and 1/8th in the Grade 2 Santa Margarita at Santa Anita at the end of April.

The 5-year-old daughter of Equal Stripes looks up to scoring today following a 1:00.20 5-furlong work on June 9.

9:13 pm ET Santa Anita (Race 11) – Absolutely Zero 8/5 (2-star play)

Absolutely Zero made an impressive debut when winning by 1 3/4 lengths having raced in 4th early in a 4  1/2 furlong maiden special weight at this track last month. She challenged 3-wide entering the stretch prior to asserting.

She registered a solid speed figure that day and with the extra half-furlong looking likely to suit the daughter of Nyquist, she is taken to maintain her unbeaten record with jockey Mario Gutierez up following a couple of solid works at this track this month.
