5:03 pm Saratoga (Race 8) – Mischievous Dream 15/1 (1-star play)
Race 8 at Saratoga is the $200,000 Yaddo Handicap for the female division over a mile and a sixteenth on the turf and I like the chances of the filly in stall four, Mischievous Dream, who won her maiden here and has been running consistently well of late. This daughter of Into Mischief is a stakes winner and if she runs to the level of her penultimate run when scoring at Belmont Park then she should be in the money.
5:39 pm Saratoga (Race 9) – Perfect Munnings 12/1 (1-star play)
A field of twelve are set to go to post for this hotly contested $100,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event over seven furlongs on the dirt in which the Chad Brown trained Key Point is likely to be tough to beat but there’s value against him in the shape of Perfect Munnings. Todd Pletcher’s colt won a similar contest over course and distance last season and he should come on a good deal from his third place finish at Belmont Park back in June which was his first start for eight months.
6:13 pm Saratoga (Race 10) – Somelikeithotbrown 7/2 (2-star play)
The penultimate contest at Saratoga features older horses with some very good form in the book and a case can be made for a fair few in this field but none more so than two-time course winner Somelikeithotbrown who can put his best foot forward in the $200,000 West Point Stakes. He’s a multiple graded stakes winner who has more than enough ability to win this so if jockey Jose Ortiz can get into a prominent position early, from a good draw in stall three, then all of his rivals will have their work cut out to beat him.
6:47 pm Saratoga (Race 11) – Your Mission 5/2 (2-star play)
Pletcher’s Your Mission is still a maiden from four starts but his two second placed efforts in valuable Maiden Special Weights at Aqueduct and here at Saratoga is about the best form on offer here and he can win his first start in Maiden Claiming company. This is a fairly weak contest and it will be somewhat disappointing should Your Mission not get off the mark in the finale.
