Horse Racing picks for Tampa Bay Downs race track on Wednesday, April 20: Consider Me is worth thinking about

General view of horse connections looking on as the Tampa Bay Downs

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Wednesday, including at Tampa Bay Downs race track. We have been in fine form with our picks for a long time, and yesterday we had 2 wins and a 2nd place from 3 picks at Parx race track. That took us to 315.05 units of profit on horse racing selections to our recommended stakes since August 5!

Here are 4 runners we expect to perform well today. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.

3:18 pm ET Tampa Bay Downs (Race 6) – Shaldag 8/1 (1-star play)

Race 6 at Tampa Bay is a $31,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event over an extended mile on the dirt and one who can go well at a good price is the gelding in stall 2, Shaldag, who can make it back-to-back wins at this track.

He won a claimer there last time out, which was over a mile, and the extra 40 yards in trip today will be fine. Take him to add to his 3 course victories.

3:50 pm ET Tampa Bay Downs (Race 7) – Consider Me 6/1 (1-star play)

Consider Me ran a race full of promise when finishing 4th in his debut at this track last month and this 3-year-old chestnut gelding can improve from that and put up a bold showing in this $17,000 Maiden Claimer over a mile on the turf, Race 7.

He raced 3-wide and showed up for a long way that time, before tiring late on, so it would not be a surprise should he go very well from a good draw in stall 3.

4:22 pm ET Tampa Bay Downs (Race 8) – He Is Ready 8/1 (1-star play)

The penultimate race at Tampa Bay is an open-looking $35,000 Maiden Special Weight for 3-year-olds over an extended 5 furlongs on the dirt surface and I like the chances of He Is Ready, who can improve significantly from his comeback effort there last month.

His form figures prior to that run read 643, so he was steadily improving before being given 6 months off the track, so that recent 10-place finish was a race to bring him on fitness-wise and a bold bid is expected this time.

4:54 pm ET Tampa Bay Downs (Race 9) – Jeff’s Angel 4/1 (2-star play)

A field of 14 fillies and mares are set to go to post for the 9th and final race at Tampa Bay and Jeff’s Angel, who made steady ground while coming 6-wide last time out, can have a better run this time and gain her second career victory from 4 starts.

Having settled on the inside over an extended mile on the dirt, she encountered traffic trouble before coming very wide, so if her jockey Jose Lopez can get a nice run through she should get much closer this time.
