PREVIEW:

Jake Paul will take on Tyron Woodley on Saturday in Tampa in a rematch of their August bout, which saw Paul come out on top by split decision.

The Youtube star’s much hyped fight with Tommy Fury was called off after the English fighter pulled out with a chest infection and broken rib and a rematch with Woodley was the logical replacement.

PREVIOUS FIGHT RECAP:

The first contest was a cagey affair, with Paul looking to stay outside and use his height and reach advantage. Woodley was inactive, landing just 52 punches all fight compared to 71 for Paul.

The former UFC star did manage to land one big right hand in round four that sent Paul into the ropes and seemed to spark the fight into life. However, normal service resumed afterwards with Woodley chasing his opponent around the ring but unable to land a significant or sustained attack.

As the fight went on Paul’s fitness levels became an issue and his work rate dropped in the latter rounds of the bout.

PREDICTION:

Those fitness issues could be crucial in the rematch. With Woodley likely to be more offensive this time. And with question marks over Paul’s stamina levels sustaining over the eight rounds in Tampa, the fight not to go the distance looks a decent bet at -112.

Not long ago Woodley was a huge star in the UFC, with striking a huge part of that discipline. It seems likely that the 39-year-old will be more aggressive in the rematch and Paul himself will want to prove it was no fluke first time around.

The fight has been billed as ‘Leave No Doubt’, indicating that both men are after a clear victory following the close bout in August.

To add to that, Woodley purportedly has a $500,000 bonus in his contract if he knocks Paul out, which means it could become a slugfest in Tampa.
