KBO picks and predictions

Thursday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

NC Dinos ML over SSG Landers (-215)

The SSG Landers lost to the Doosan Bears 5-2 on Wednesday morning. They are now 88-50-4 on the season and still sit in 1st place in the league standings. The SSG Landers will start Choi Min-Jun on Thursday. He is 5-3 and has an ERA of 3.72. In 50 relief appearances he has allowed 27 earned runs over 65.1 innings.

The NC Dinos beat the Lotte Giants 7-3 on Wednesday. They are now 65-72-3 on the year and remain in 6th place by only 1.5 games. The Dinos will counter with Drew Rucinski, who is 9-12 and has an ERA of 3.07. In 30 starts he has allowed 64 earned runs over 187.2 innings.

This game is crucial for the Dinos if they want to make a last push for the playoffs. They also have one of their best starters on the mound, while the SSG Landers are starting a guy who has not made a single start this season. For that reason, backing the Dinos will be the play.

Samsung Lions vs Doosan Bears – Over 8 runs (-115)

The total may be the better play in the matchup as both starters have had their struggles recently. Baek Jung-Hyun has allowed 10 earned runs over 13.2 innings in his last 3 starts. In 3 starts against the Bears this season, he has surrendered 5 earned runs over 16.2 innings.

On the other side, Robert Stock has allowed 19 runs (13 earned) over 9.1 innings in his last 3 starts. In 2 starts against the Lions he has given up 13 runs (8 earned) over 11.0 innings. Because both starters have struggled recently — especially Stock — backing the over will be the play.

Kiwoom Heroes vs Hanwha Eagles – Under 7 runs (+100)

The total looks to be the better play because Eric Jokisch has been dominant in 2022, while Kim Min-Woo has put together several solid starts recently. Min-Woo has yielded 5 earned runs over 18.0 innings in his last 3 starts. In 2 starts against the Heroes this season, he has allowed 4 earned runs over 13.0 innings.

On the other side, Jokisch has allowed 9 earned runs over 17.2 innings in his last 3 starts. In 3 starts against the Eagles he has allowed 3 earned runs over 19.2 innings. Because both starters have been solid against each other, backing the under will be the play.
