After a shocking loss in Game 1, the defending champions are aiming to respond as the Celtics take on the Knicks in Game 2 on Wednesday. Over 211 total points (-114)

The series opener was an absolute slugfest offensively from both teams and yet we still saw 213 points scored with the Over cashing, albeit with the need for overtime. The 2 teams combined to miss a total of 65 threes and the Celtics broke the all-time postseason record with 45 misses from beyond the arc. I’m expecting a completely different approach from both in Game 2, especially from the Celtics, who had the 2nd-most efficient offense in the NBA during the regular season, averaging 116.3 points per game.

The Knicks weren’t far behind averaging 115.8 per game with the 5th-highest efficiency, so despite this being the NBA Playoffs and the pace going down, I still see potential for a high-scoring game here. The 4 regular-season games saw an average of 233.7 points scored and every single one of those went over 211 points. Kristaps Porzingis should also have a bounce-back game, as he is just too good of a player to have back-to-back 0-point games. Expect the total to be somewhere in the high 210s here.

Karl-Anthony Towns 1+ made threes (-290)

Towns had a relatively modest output in Game 1, scoring just 14 points on 46% shooting. His form has been up and down this postseason, but that’s mainly because Jalen Brunson has completely taken over and is carrying the offense on his back. However, Game 2 might be the most difficult game of the postseason that the Knicks will play, and they need a solid effort from KAT to keep up with the high-scoring Celtics here.

In Round 1 against the Pistons, Towns shot 48% from three on a solid 2 makes per game, which is 6% better than what he averaged during the regular season. Only twice in the last 10 meetings against Boston has he failed to knock down a three, giving this leg of our SGP an 80% hit rate. The series opener saw the Knicks shoot almost 46% from distance, and I’m confident they can once again exploit the weaknesses shown by Boston around the perimeter.

Jayson Tatum to score 30+ points (+134)

Tatum was visibly disappointed after that Game 1 loss in which he made just 7 of 23 shot attempts. We saw him time and time again take questionable shots, settling for the deep ball despite having the smaller Jalen Brunson on him. I’m hoping he spent all of his bad looks in Game 1 and that things should only get better from now on. He averaged 33.5 points per game in 4 meetings with the Knicks in the regular season, shooting over 53% from the field and also knocking down almost 48% of his threes.

Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby did play stellar defense on Tatum on Monday, but I’ll take good offense over solid defense every day of the week. Tatum has cleared this line in 3 of 4 games and I’m expecting a performance similar to the one Donovan Mitchell had last night for Cleveland.
