Miami Marlins -1.5 (+100)

This series will be a good test for the Marlins as the Nationals are playing good baseball. Miami enters just 2 games back of the final wild-card spot in the NL and this needs to be a get-right spot for the Marlins. They have lost 4 of their last 5 games and 6 of their last 8. Fortunately for the Marlins, they have dominated the Nationals this season.

Washington and Miami have met 6 times this season and the Marlins have won all 6 games. They have a good chance to get back in the win column facing a Nationals team that they have owned this year. The Marlins have also won 8 of the last 9 head-to-head games played in Washington. Miami will face Joan Adon who will be making his 4th start of the season and his 6th appearance. Adon has not found it yet at the big-league level and presents an opportunity for the Marlins to run up the score.

Houston Astros -1.5 & game total over 8.5 (+215)

The Astros are licking their wounds after losing the finale of a 4-game set to the Red Sox by a score of 17-1. You read that right. Those games are obviously far from ideal. But they happen and are a fluke. The Astros do not need to dwell on it and they shouldn’t. The Astros are the better team and they are in a division race. They should come out with some extra juice after yesterday’s whooping, looking to beat up on the Detroit Tigers.

Yesterday’s game total over was the 6th consecutive for the Astros. The over has also hit in 4 of the Tigers’ last 5 games at home and in 4 of their last 5 against the Astros. The Tigers have either scored or allowed 6 runs in their last 3 games which bodes well for a high total today. Houston has been both scoring and allowing runs in bunches for a longer stretch, so this one looks good for a high score.

Tampa Bay Rays win (-142)

If there has ever been a time to fade the Yankees, it is probably right now. The wheels fell off very quickly and they are ice cold. The Yankees are 1-10 in their last 11 games and have dropped their last 5 on the road. Lately, just about everything that could go wrong for this team has gone wrong. Sure, the Yankees have Gerrit Cole on the mound on Friday. But even if he shows out, their offense has not been good enough to support him.

The Rays have had a solid week at a time they really needed it. They are 6-1 in their last 7 games and 5-1 in their last 6 games at home. The Rays are 2 games back of top spot in the AL East and facing a spiraling team, so they have a good chance to make an upward move in the standings. The Rays have scored 72 runs in their last 9 games for an average of 8 runs scored per game. Tampa is in great form and this one should be all Rays.
