MLB best bet: Boston Red Sox first 5 innings -0.5 over NY Yankees (-115)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -125.
My first MLB best bet for this slate comes in Boston, where the Red Sox will square off against their hated rivals from New York. While the Yankees are certainly the better team, Boston has the significant edge on the mound. Garrett Crochet has been as advertised for the Red Sox this season, posting a 2.35 ERA along with a near 32% strikeout rate and .218 expected batting average. Crochet also has the advantage of just facing the Yankees last week, and I’d expect him to bounce back and maintain his excellent season at home. On the other side, the Red Sox excellent offense should see success against Yankees starter Ryan Yarbrough (4.17 ERA), who just surrendered 8 earned runs against Boston a week ago. Ultimately, I’ll be avoiding the bullpens and backing the home team to lead after 5 innings
MLB best bet: Colorado Rockies vs Atlanta Braves over 9 (+100)
Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing. Playable to -115.
For my second MLB best bet on Tuesday’s card, I’ll be targeting the over between the Rockies and Braves in Atlanta on Friday. While I’ve been consistently successful in fading the Rockies this season, Colorado has shown some signs of life recently, particularly at the plate. While this game doesn’t come at Coors Field, Colorado still has a pretty decent matchup on its hands with Bryce Elder (4.08 ERA) on the mound, a pitcher that has been consistently inconsistent in his MLB career to this point. The Rockies are countering with German Marquez, who holds a 2-8 record with a very poor 7.00 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 63 innings pitched. The meat of the Braves order has been excellent against Marquez, which bodes well for Atlanta’s offense on Friday. All things considered, let’s back the over in this one.
