The 2nd half of the 2025 MLB season continues rolling along, and Sunday features a full slate of action for us to enjoy. I’m 68-51 on my MLB best bets this year and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is currently on a 133-103-8 run! Let’s keep it going as we get into today’s top MLB predictions on Monday, August 25. You can also find out our MLB picks for EVERY GAME today.
MLB best bet: Cincinnati Reds vs Los Angeles Dodgers under 8.5 (-115)
Odds available at BetRivers Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -125.
My first MLB best bet today takes us to Los Angeles, where the Dodgers will host the Reds in this pivotal series. Los Angeles has been wildly inconsistent since the All-Star break, and despite a breakout showing on Sunday, the Dodgers are still struggling at the plate. Despite all of the starpower in the lineup, Dave Roberts’ club has only mustered 3 runs or fewer in 4 of their last 6 games. To make matters worse, Los Angeles is playing a couple of “Quadruple-A” level players due to injuries to the likes of Max Muncy, Tommy Edman and Kiké Hernandez, to go along with Michael Conforto and Miguel Rojas, who might as well be minor leaguers at the plate these days. That won’t get the job done against Hunter Greene (2.63 ERA, top 10% strikeout rate & walk rate), who should be in position to succeed on Monday.
On the other side, the Dodgers are countering with Emmett Sheehan, whose expected metrics suggest that he’s actually due for a bit of positive regression in his upcoming outings. Cincinnati has a decent lineup offensively, but given the fact that Sheehan has pitched very well at home this season, we can expect a solid outing from the righty and a lower scoring game overall. All things considered, let’s back the under in Los Angeles.
MLB best bet: Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 over Arizona Diamondbacks (+120)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to +110.
For my second MLB best bet for today, we’ll focus on this National League matchup Diamondbacks and Brewers. Milwaukee has been an absolute machine for the better part of 2 months now, and I don’t see that slowing down on Monday with the Brewers hosting a middling Diamondbacks team that has underwhelmed all season long. Furthermore, left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez enters Monday’s start with a 5.40 ERA and a 5.84 ERA over his last 8 outings, which doesn’t bode well against Milwaukee’s rock solid offense. On the other side, Brandon Woodruff gets the ball for the Brewers, and he owns a 2.47 ERA and he has posted quality starts in 5 of his 8 outings this season. With that in mind, let’s take Milwaukee to start off this series with a convincing victory.
