The 2025 MLB season keeps rolling along, and Monday features a quieter 7-game slate for us to enjoy. MLB best bet: SF Giants first 5 innings -0.5 over SD Padres (-120)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -130.

My MLB best bet for Monday’s slate is targeting the Giants to lead after the first 5 innings against the Padres. Logan Webb has long been one of the better pitchers in the game, and the right-handed veteran ace has been strong in all areas this season, to the tune of a 2.82 ERA and just 23 earned runs allowed over 73.1 innings pitched. What’s more impressive are Webb’s underlying metrics, as he currently holds a 2.31 FIP that ranks 2nd-best among qualified MLB starters and a 28% strikeout percentage that sits as his career-best mark per Baseball Savant.

While Webb struggled in his previous outing against the Padres lineup this season, we can expect him to bounce back on Monday, especially since he’s historically had success against the likes of Xander Bogaerts and Fernando Tatis Jr., among others. As for San Diego, the Padres will be turning to Stephen Kolek (4.11 ERA, bottom 1% hard-hit rate), a pitcher whose advanced metrics suggest that he has a real problem limiting hard contact and generating strikeouts. At the end of the day, San Francisco has the clear edge on the mound, so we’ll take the bullpens out of the equation and go with the Giants to hold a lead after the first 5 innings.
