The 2nd half of the 2025 MLB season continues rolling along today, and Saturday features a full slate of action for us to enjoy. I’m 61-40 on my MLB best bets this year and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is currently on a 7-3 run! Let’s keep it going as we get into today’s top predictions on Saturday, August 10. You can also find out our MLB picks for EVERY GAME today.

MLB best bet: Houston Astros ML over New York Yankees (-120)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -130.

For my first MLB best bet for today, we’ll focus on a familiar American League matchup between the Astros and Yankees. Houston took the first game of the series in extra innings, but the bigger storyline from that game was the continued futility of the New York bullpen, specifically Devin Williams. With the defeat, the Yankees have now lost 6 of their last 7 games, and even the return of Aaron Judge during that stretch has not been enough to jump start a team that feels like its floundering at the moment. Things won’t get easier for New York against Framber Valdez, who is as reliable as any pitcher in the American League at this point. Furthermore, the Astros lineup should see success against Luis Gil, who is only making his second outing of the campaign after allowing 5 runs and walking 4 batters in his first start. Let’s back Houston to continue its dominance of New York.

MLB best bet: Miami Marlins vs Atlanta Braves Over 8.5 (-102)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -110.

Our 2nd MLB best bet today takes us to Atlanta, where we’ll have the chance to wager against a couple of starting pitchers that I’ve faded all season long. Any time that Erick Fedde (5.32 ERA) takes the mound, I’m looking to back the opposing offense, and with the Braves starter allowing at least 3 runs in 7 consecutive starts, this should be a good situation for the Marlins offense to continue its good run of form and jump all over the right-hander. On the other side, Miami is countering with Sandy Alcantara (6.44 ERA), who is another starter that I’ve faded on multiple occasions this season. The Marlins former ace has surrendered at least 4 runs in 3 of his past 5 outings, which only further points me in the direction of the over on Saturday.
