The 2nd half of the 2025 MLB season keeps rolling along, and Sunday features a full slate of action for us to enjoy. I’m 55-33 on my MLB best bets this year and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is 108-72-7 in this article series this season, including being on a 30-16 run right now.

Let’s keep it going as we get into today’s top picks on Sunday, July 27. You can also find out our MLB picks for EVERY GAME today.

MLB best bet: Philadelphia Phillies ML over New York Yankees (-125)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -135.

For my first MLB best bet for today, we’ll focus on an interleague battle between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees. These are two teams heading in completely different directions, and the quality of both sides has shown to this point, as Philadelphia took the first couple of games in this series with relative ease. To add insult to injury, the Yankees will be without Aaron Judge on Sunday, as the all-world slugger is nursing an elbow injury he suffered earlier this week. That doesn’t bode well for this lineup against Zack Wheeler (2.39 ERA), who ranks inside the top 10% of all qualified starters in xERA, xBA, hard-hit rate and strikeout rate per Baseball Savant.

On the other side, the Yankees are opting to go with Carlos Rodon, who has been solid to this point, but is due for a bit of regression in his upcoming outings. New York also holds a 5.79 team ERA over its last 10 games, as the Yankees bullpen has been a major issue in this series. Ultimately, I’ll back the road team to pick up a victory in this series finale.

MLB best bet: Toronto Blue Jays ML over Detroit Tigers (+100)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -110.

Our 2nd MLB best bet today takes us to Detroit, where the Tigers will host the scorching hot Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto has won 19 of its last 23 games and is comfortably playing like the best team in baseball at the moment. That shouldn’t change on Sunday, especially since the Blue Jays are going up against a Tigers team that has looked lifeless offensively, while also struggling mightily on the mound over the course of this 6-game losing skid. While Max Scherzer has been far from perfect in limited action this season, his expected metrics do suggest that he’s due for some positive regression sooner rather than later. The same can’t be said for Jack Flaherty, who has surrendered 29 runs over his last 7 outings. Let’s roll with Toronto’s bats to stay hot en route to a series sweep on Sunday.
