MLB best bet: New York Mets & New York Yankees ML parlay (+105)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -105.

My first best bet for this slate comes in the form of a rare money line parlay consisting of the New York franchises, as both the Mets and Yankees should have clear advantages over their opponents on Sunday. The Mets are going up against a Rockies team that is easily the worst unit, and it’s easy to see why, as Colorado’s pitching staff and bullpen is ranked 29th in ERA (5.42) while being very susceptible to allowing the home run. The meat of the Mets’ offense should have a favorable matchup against Chase Dollander (6.26 ERA, 16.1% barrel rate, .535 xSLG), while New York should be in great position to succeed with Tylor Megill on the mound against an underwhelming Rockies offense.

As for the Yankees, New York is sending Carlos Rodon (2.48 ERA, .203 xBA, 31.6% strikeout rate) to the mound and he’ll face a Red Sox lineup that he has solid career numbers against to this point. The Yankees offense has had no trouble against Boston’s middling starting pitcher and underwhelming bullpen in this series, and I’d expect that to continue with Hunter Dobbins (4.06 ERA), who hasn’t shown the ability to extend his starts while remaining effective in his young MLB career. Ultimately, New York is a significant favorite for a reason, and I’ll back the Yankees to find enough to get over the finish line on Sunday.

MLB best bet: St. Louis Cardinals team total over 3.5 (-140)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -150.

For my 2nd MLB best bet on Sunday’s card, I’ll be targeting the Cardinals team total against the Dodgers. While Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw is a slam-dunk future Hall of Famer and one of the greatest pitchers to ever take the mound, the living legend has faced plenty of challenges recently. The southpaw’s strikeout numbers have dipped, and he’s had clear control issues in his 4 outings since returning from the injured list, which has led to opponents tallying 9 runs off the lefty in 15.2 innings pitched. The Cardinals offense has been a top 10 unit in baseball by all accounts, and I could certainly see Kershaw surrendering a few runs in 4 or 5 innings on the road. At the current number, it’s hard to ignore the value we’re getting with the St. Louis lineup at home against a struggling pitcher and a weary stable of bullpen arms.
