The 2nd half of the 2025 MLB season continues rolling along, and Sunday features a full slate of action for us to enjoy. I’m 80-56-1 on my MLB best bets this year and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is currently on a 23-10 run! Let’s keep it going as we get into today’s top MLB predictions on Sunday, September 7.

MLB best bet: Baltimore Orioles ML over Los Angeles Dodgers (+140)

Odds available at ESPNBet Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to +130.

For my first MLB best bet today, we’ll focus on this interleague matchup between the Dodgers and Orioles. I’ve been consistent in fading the Dodgers in recent weeks, and this strategy has yielded great profits in that span as Los Angeles continues to drop games in new and inventive ways. On Saturday, Dave Robert’s team hit a new low as Yoshinobu Yamamoto was just one out away from completing a masterful no-hitter, before he surrendered a solo home run and was removed from the game in the 9th. From there, the Dodgers top high leverage bullpen arms capitulated yet again, allowing the Orioles to pull off a 4-run 9th inning and snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat.

Ordinarily, I’d bank on a team of the Dodgers’ talent level to bounce back after an ending like that, but this is about as uninspiring as a preseason title favorite has looked in some time, especially considering the quality of the roster on paper. The Dodger offense has been anemic of late, which doesn’t give me confidence in their ability to provide Clayton Kershaw with run support in this one. Kershaw has been solid on the mound this season, but he just struggled mightily against the Pirates and I could see those issues carrying over into this game against a suddenly red-hot Orioles team. Los Angeles’ bullpen has also been a major issue all season long, so it’s hard to trust the Dodgers with a lead, especially during this extended stretch of extremely poor form.

MLB best bet: New York Yankees ML over Toronto Blue Jays (-145)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -155.

For my second MLB best bet on Sunday, let’s roll with the Yankees on the money line. In what was touted as the biggest series of the season for both teams coming into the weekend, I’ve been impressed with the Yankees a bit more than my initial impressions of New York during its post-All Star break run. The Yankees should keep things rolling on Sunday with Max Fried on the mound, and the veteran has been excellent of late, posting a 0.90 ERA over his last 3 outings, with 2 of those games coming against AL playoff teams. As for Toronto, Max Scherzer is coming off a difficult outing against the Brewers, and he should have a tough matchup at hand against a Yankees offense that is averaging over 6 runs per game in their last 10 contests. All things considered, I’ll take New York to win this series at home.
