The 2nd half of the 2025 MLB season continues rolling along, and Tuesday features a full slate of action for us to enjoy. I’m 75-51-1 on my MLB best bets this year and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is currently on a 18-5 run! Let’s keep it going as we get into today’s top MLB predictions on Tuesday, September 2. You can also find out our MLB picks for EVERY GAME today.
MLB best bet: Boston Red Sox -1.5 over Cleveland Guardians (-115)
Odds available at BetRivers Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -125.
For my first MLB best bet today, we’ll focus on this American League matchup between the Cleveland Guardians and Boston Red Sox. Any time that Slade Cecconi (5.62 xERA, .290 xBA, bottom 5% barrel rate, hard-hit rate & strikeout rate) takes the mound for the Guardians, the opponent is going to immediately intrigue me. That is only exacerbated by the fact that Garrett Crochet is taking the mound for the Red Sox on the other side. After all, Crochet is easily a top 5 pitcher in the game for my money, posting a 2.40 ERA this season, to go along with top 15% marks in barrel rate, strikeout rate, chase rate and xERA (Baseball Savant). The Red Sox lineup has been rock solid of late, and they shouldn’t have much trouble in this matchuo. I expect Crochet to remain dominant in Tuesday’s contest, so let’s target Boston on the run line.

MLB best bet: SD Padres -1.5 over Baltimore Orioles (+125)
Odds widely available at time of publishing. Playable to +115.
For my 2nd MLB best bet on Tuesday, let’s roll with the Padres on the money line. The Orioles won the first game of this series, but San Diego should be in position to bounce back against an inferior opponent. Yu Darvish has been a pitcher that I’ve faded since he’s returned from injury, but the veteran right-hander’s expected metrics do suggest that he’s do for a significant amount of regression (3.66 xERA vs 5.66 actual ERA) against a pretty middling Orioles lineup (24th in OBP, 22nd in OPS). On the other side, Baltimore is countering with Tyler Wells (7.64 xERA, .316 xBA, bottom 10% barrel rate), who has surrendered 11 runs over his last 14.1 innings pitched this season. Let’s back the playoff hopeful Padres to win by margin on Tuesday.
