The home stretch of the 2025 MLB season continues rolling along, and Tuesday features a full slate of action for us to enjoy. I’m 91-65-1 on my MLB best bets this year, and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is currently on a HUGE 40-22 run! Let’s keep it going as we get into today’s top MLB predictions on Tuesday, September 23. You can also find out our MLB picks for every game today.
MLB best bet: Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 over Miami Marlins (-105)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -115.
For my first MLB best bet today, we’ll go back to the well with backing the Phillies on the run line. Philadelphia certainly looks like the top team in the National League at the moment, and the Phillies offense should be able to get to Marlins starter Edward Cabrera, who is making his first start in nearly a month at Citizens Bank Park. Cabrera has been up-and-down this season, and the Marlins bullpen is also a below average unit (4.32 ERA), which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in this spot. Phillies starter Cristopher Sánchez should dominate Miami on the other side, as he holds a 2.66 ERA with just 0.6 home runs and only 2 walks allowed per 9 innings on the year. Let’s take the Phillies to win by at least 2 runs on Tuesday.
MLB best bet: New York Yankees -1.5 over Chicago White Sox (-115)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -125.
For my 2nd MLB best bet on Tuesday, I’m targeting the Yankees on the run line. New York has been on cruise control over the last week or two, and I have a hard time seeing that momentum slowing down against a White Sox team that is limping to the finish line with a week left in the season. Luis Gil (14.4% walk rate, 5.07 xERA) gets the ball for the Yankees and while his advanced metrics are concerning on paper, this is a matchup where he should see success early and often against a White Sox lineup that is 29th in SLG and 28th in OPS on the season. On the other side, the Yankees lineup can be expected to rack up the runs, with New York sitting atop the league in batting average, SLG and OPS. I’ll back the Yankees to win by margin at home.
