The 2025 MLB season keeps rolling along, and Wednesday features a full slate of action for us to enjoy. I’m 36-26 on my MLB best bets this year and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is 82-60-6 in this article series this season. Let’s keep it going as we get into today’s top picks on Wednesday, July 2. You can also find out our MLB picks for EVERY GAME today, with our experts going 62-30 last week to finish up +46.6 units!

MLB best bet: Texas Rangers F5 -0.5 over Baltimore Orioles (-115)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -125.

For my first MLB best bet for today, let’s head to Texas for an American League clash between the Rangers and Baltimore Orioles. Texas dominated the middle game of this series on Tuesday, and I’m expecting the hosts to start off strong with Nathan Eovaldi on the mound on Wednesday. The veteran holds a 1.87 ERA to go along with an elite 4.3% walk rate and .235 WOBA. Conversely, Baltimore will counter with Tomoyuki Sugano, and his poor expected metrics (5.23 xERA, .290 xBA, bottom 3% strikeout rate) appear to be catching up with him based on his recent outings, none of which have reached 5 innings. Ultimately, I’ll take the better starter and better overall team to be leading after 5 innings on Wednesday.

MLB best bet: Colorado Rockies team total Under 4.5 (-140)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -150.

Our 2nd MLB best bet today takes us to Colorado, where I’ll be targeting the Rockies to go under their team total against the Houston Astros. Any time that Hunter Brown gets the ball for Houston, I’m instantly looking to fade the opposing offense. Brown is in the midst of a tremendous season, posting a 1.75 ERA, plus a 32.1% strikeout rate and 30.6% hard-hit rate (Baseball Savant).

It certainly helps matters that the Astros’ ace is going up against a Rockies lineup that is one of the worst in baseball in nearly every relevant metric. Colorado shouldn’t have much success against Brown, and I can’t see the Astros bullpen surrendering more than a couple of runs to a Rockies team that has cleared this number in just 3 of their last 9 contests.
