The home stretch of the 2025 MLB season continues rolling along, and Wednesday features a full slate of action for us to enjoy. I’m 91-67-1 on my MLB best bets this year, and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is currently on a HUGE 41-25 run! Let’s keep it going as we get into today’s top MLB predictions on Wednesday, September 24. You can also find out our MLB picks for every game today.

MLB best bet: LA Dodgers F5 ML over Arizona Diamondbacks (-135)

Odds available at bet365 Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -145.

For my first MLB best bet today, we’ll take the Dodgers in the first 5 innings following another demoralizing loss due to a bullpen meltdown. Tanner Scott blew his 10th save on Tuesday, making this at least the third massive late-inning bullpen collapse from the Dodgers in recent weeks. To their credit, the Dodgers have typically responded well to these bullpen implosions in the following game, and Los Angeles should be in good position to succeed on Wednesday with Blake Snell (2.44 ERA, top 5% hard-hit rate & whiff rate) on the mound. As for Arizona, the Diamondbacks are countering with Ryne Nelson (bottom 15% hard-hit rate), whose advanced metrics suggest is due for some regression. I’ll avoid the Dodgers bullpen like the plague and focus on the first half of the game here.

MLB best bet: Boston Red Sox F5 ML over Toronto Blue Jays (-125)

Odds available at bet365 Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -135.

For my 2nd MLB best bet on Wednesday, I’m targeting the Red Sox on the money line. Boston is coming off a win in the series opener of this crucial AL East tilt, and the Red Sox should be in good position to lead after 5 innings with Garrett Crochet (2.69 ERA, 3.01 xERA, top 10% strikeout rate) getting the start in Toronto. As for the Blue Jays, the hosts will send out Max Scherzer (5.06 ERA, bottom 1% ground-ball rate & barrel rate), who just allowed 7 runs against the Royals in his last outing. Boston’s offense hasn’t been as potent as it was prior to Roman Anthony’s injury, but this is still a unit that should scratch across a few runs against Scherzer and be in position to lead after 5 innings. With such a disparity in starting pitching, I’ll back Boston to start strong in this one.
