MLB best bet: Minnesota Twins F5 ML over Boston Red Sox (-114)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Opponents generally give the Red Sox fits when Richard Fitts takes the mound. Boston is 2-7 in his 9 starts this year – even though his numbers aren’t entirely terrible (4.86 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). However, Fitts has been particularly poor of late. The 25-year-old right-hander gave up 8 runs in 5.0 innings through 2 June appearances, and so far in July, he has allowed 8 runs on 13 hits in 12.0 innings.
The Twins are countering with Simeon Woods Richardson, who loves pitching at home. SWR is 4-2 with a 3.12 ERA in Minnesota compared to road numbers of 1-2 and 5.30. Overall, the 24-year-old righty compiled a 3.92 ERA in June and his current ERA for this month is 2.55. I feel better about Minnesota on the first 5 innings line, however, because Woods Richardson generally doesn’t work very deep in games and the bullpen isn’t great (4.33 ERA) — whereas Boston’s relievers have been some of baseball’s best. Things could get away from the Twins late.

MLB best bet: Texas Rangers -1.5 over Los Angeles Angels (-115)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
The Rangers won 3 of their last 4 games in the first half of the season and they have been even hotter coming out of the break. Their post-ASG record stands at 8-1 after sweeping Atlanta this past weekend. Corey Seager is batting .333 with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs so far in the second half. There is no reason to think that Texas will cool off with Jacob deGrom on the mound. He is 10-2 with a 2.28 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and a 122-to-25 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
It is a different story for the Angels, who are 2-5 in their last 7 contests and are sending Jack Kochanowicz to the bump. Kochanowicz is 3-9 with a 6.03 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. He faced none other than Texas in his most recent start last Thursday and surrendered 8 earned runs in 2.2 innings. Los Angeles dropped that game 11-4 in a pitching matchup that was Kochanowicz vs Patrick Corbin. Now it’s Kochanowicz vs deGrom. Needless to say, things could get even worse for the Halos.
