The week in Major League Baseball continues with a full 15-game slate on Wednesday, August 6. It includes Guardians vs Mets, Reds vs Cubs, Yankees vs Rangers and Cardinals vs Dodgers. The Pickswise team has been in fine form this season. I’m 56-44-2 record so far in this best bets piece while going 4-for-10 on Same Game Parlays at +481, +632, +439 and +600 odds. Pickswise’s MLB handicapping team on the whole is 117-84-7 on their best bets. Let’s keep it going as we get into my MLB best bets of the day! MLB best bet: Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 over Colorado Rockies (-149)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing
There is no need to overthink this one, folks. Toronto is the best team in the American League and Colorado is the worst team in all of Major League Baseball by a country mile. The first 2 games of this series have played out as those distinctions would suggest. It is 25-5 in the Blue Jays’ favor so far. Center fielder Daulton Varsho went 5-for-10 with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs in those 2 contests.
I would be shocked if anything changes on Wednesday, because the pitching matchup only makes things even worse for Colorado. After all, Kyle Freeland is 2-10 with a 5.26 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Varsho is 3-for-7 lifetime with 1 homer against Freeland. Meanwhile, Toronto’s Kevin Gausman is sporting a 3.99 ERA and he heated up in July with a 2.51 monthly ERA in 5 outings. The Jays are 5-2 in Gausman’s last 7 appearances; 4 of those wins have come by multiple runs.

MLB best bet: Miami Marlins F5 ML over Houston Astros (-120)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
The Marlins have been playing too well to come out and get swept at home by the Astros, right? Miami had won 5 games in a row and 9 of 11 before dropping the first 2 against Houston on Monday and Tuesday. The Fish should be able to get back on track with Janson Junk on the mound. Junk is sporting a 3.86 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.
Houston is countering with Spencer Arrighetti, who has been activated from the 60-day IL to make this start. Arrighetti has not pitched since April 5, so it goes without saying that he is a massive question mark. The Astros had lost 8 of 10 before this series began, so their sample size of recent success is small. I think the Marlins will win, but I like their value even better on the first 5 line since their bullpen is a lot worse than that of the Astros.
