The opening month of the 2026 Major League Baseball season continues with another loaded slate of games on Wednesday. The 14-game card includes a couple of showdowns, including a matchup between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers to close out the night at 10:10 pm ET. The action gets underway at 12:35 pm ET between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Baltimore Orioles in an Interleague contest.
Here are my best bets for Wednedsay’s slate, and also make sure to check out our MLB picks for predictions throughout the 2026 campaign!
Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 over New York Mets (+100)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -110.
The first two games in this series have gone the way of the hosts, and while Tuesday’s game was a tight, low-scoring game from start to finish, there isn’t much evidence to suggests that the struggling Mets avoid a sweep on Wednesday. Night after night, it seems as if there’s a new hero in the lineup for this loaded Dodgers team, and Los Angeles has made a habit of putting up plenty of runs in late innings to pull away from its opponents this season. As a team, the Dodgers are averaging nearly 6 runs per game, which speaks to how difficult it is to hold down a lineup of this caliber for a full 9 innings.
As for New York, the Mets have been a sorry sight over the last week, dropping 7 straight games and squandering all of its positive momentum from the first 10 games of the campaign. The lineup has been a disaster of late, and things likely won’t get any better against Shohei Ohtani (2.29 ERA, 10.7 strikeouts per 9 innings) and a Los Angeles bullpen that has been clicking to start the season. Clay Holmes has his work cut out for him, and he’ll likely have to be brilliant in order for New York to stay in this game and keep things close heading into the late innings. Dave Roberts’ group is already 8-3 at Dodger Stadium this season, so let’s back the hosts to win by margin and complete a sweep of the Mets.
Cincinnati Reds ML over San Francisco Giants (+100)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -115.
This line is a bit mispriced given the starting pitching matchup in this NL showdown. The Reds have been a pleasant surprise to this point in the season, and Cincinnati is set to run out Rhett Lowder (1.91 ERA in 9 career MLB starts) on Wednesday against a Giants lineup that is among the worst in the National League, ranked dead last in runs per game, 29th in On-Base Percentage and 26th in OPS through 17 games. He’ll be opposed by Giants starter Tyler Mahle, who holds a 4.30 ERA with 4.3 walks per 9 innings pitched through his first 3 outings on the season. Mahle’s expected metrics (5.68 xERA, .291 xBA) suggest that he’s even due for some regression, so let’s target the Reds lineup to take advantage of the struggling right-hander in this one.
