Los Angeles Lakers ML over Denver Nuggets (-112)

Losing a 20-point lead and then getting beat at the buzzer by Jamal Murray must have felt really bad for the Lakers fan base, but they have to move on quickly and focus their efforts on winning Game 3. It’s been 10 straight victories for Denver in head-to-head meetings and at some point pride has to kick in. I think that game is tonight.

Running the Nuggets off the three-point line worked really well on Monday, Denver went just 8-for-34 (23%) from downtown and that’s the recipe for success for LA. A lot will also depend on how Anthony Davis handles Nikola Jokic. The 2-time MVP had another historic stat line of 27 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists in Game 2, and those types of numbers cannot happen if the Lakers want to win here. The Lakers are still 12-5 over their last 17 games and I believe it’s time they finally got this monkey off their backs.

LeBron James to record 8+ assists (-240)

LeBron did his best Magic Johnson impression in Game 2 with 12 assists and the Lakers were within 2 points of stealing one on the road. He’s now averaging 10.2 assists per game over his last 9 outings if we count the regular season, clearing this line a total of 7 times. James recording 12 and 8 assists in the 2 games of this series, while his bench has scored a total of 17 points, makes it all that more impressive. If the reserves get their act together at home and produce like they normally do, I think LeBron is capable of racking up double-digit assists once again here. In his last 4 games against Denver, he’s averaging 9 dimes per game. Despite the missed three at the end of Game 2, I don’t think LeBron deserves any blame for the 2 losses in this series so far.

Anthony Davis to record 2+ blocks (-180)

AD has played his heart out so far in this series, logging 45 and 39 minutes, while averaging a 32-point double-double. He also had 4 blocks in the series opener, following it up with 1 block in Game 2 on Monday. As crazy as it might sound, I feel like the Lakers would be much better off if Davis focused more on defending Nikola Jokic and let the rest of the guys do their thing on offense. In his last 6 postseason games against Denver, he’s recorded 2 blocks a total of 5 times, so I feel really strongly about this bet for tonight’s game. LA was able to shut down the Nuggets from three-point land in Game 2, holding them to just 23% shooting. If that happens again tonight, they’ll be forced to attack the rim more. I’m counting on AD to disrupt a few shots down low.

Taurean Prince over 6.5 points (+104)

Prince is almost the only Lakers bench player to have any type of production through the first 2 games of this series. He opened the series with a 4-for-7 performance and 11 points in Game 1, following it up with 6 more points on 2-for-3 shooting from deep in Game 2. This is both encouraging and alarming for the Lakers. Going back home for the next 2 games, I expect the Lakers’ reserves to pick it up, but I also expect Prince to maintain his level of play. During the regular season, he averaged 11 points against Denver in 3 meetings, and if we expand that to his last 10 against them, he’s at 11.2 per game. That type of consistency gives me confidence he’ll be able to score at least 7 points here.
