We’ve reached the business end of the NBA Playoffs Conference Semifinals. The Thunder and Knicks have already punched their tickets to the conference finals after sweeping the Lakers and 76ers, but with the series tied at 2-2, we have a pivotal Game 5 tonight between the Cavaliers and Pistons. I’m currently on a 6-0 run with my best NBA player prop bets, and hold a 16-7 record on Pickswise this season! Let’s keep that rolling tonight, with my best NBA player prop bet picked out for Wednesday, May 13. Let’s break it down, while you can also get our expert NBA picks for every matchup throughout the entire postseason.

Best NBA player prop bet: Ausar Thompson (DET) over 1.5 first-quarter points in Cavaliers vs Pistons (-121)
Odds available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Ausar Thompson has hit this line in 8 of 11 games in the playoffs, and his defensive duties will be needed against Donovan Mitchell after his incredible second half in Game 4. Ausar knows that him staying on the court is a big factor in the Pistons’ success, so I expect him to make fewer gambles defensively that could lead to fouls. In turn, Ausar should see 8+ first-quarter minutes. If this man cannot score one bucket in all that time, then I can live with the result, but with that many possessions, I think Cade will take enough gravity to give Ausar at least one open lane to the basket. In Game 2, we saw Ausar explode for 8 early points, so we know he’s more than capable of putting the ball in the basket. Let’s roll!
