NBA Saturday parlay at mega (+748) odds today 1/7: Lakers set to struggle

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum (0) brings the ball up court against the Dallas Mavericks during the second quarter at the American Airlines Center.

We have a smaller slate of 5 games in the association on Saturday, but that didn’t stop me from putting together a mega parlay. I’ve found 3 edges in the 5 games, so without further ado, let’s get right into my mega parlay.

Check out all of our NBA predictions for Saturday.

Celtics -11 (-110)

Jazz ML (+102)

Kings win by 11+ (+120)

Parlay odds: +748

For this mega parlay, we are going with one favorite against the spread, one underdog on the money line and one favorite on a winning margin pick.

Boston Celtics -11 (-110) over San Antonio Spurs

This is a battle between basketball’s David and Goliath in southern Texas. The Boston Celtics hold the league’s best record at 27-12 and are coming off a massive win over Luka Doncic and the Mavericks. That win was spurred by the Celtics allowing 150 points to the SGA-less Thunder in a 33-point loss. A fire was set under the Celtics who bounced back on Thursday, and I expect that to continue against the Spurs. San Antonio has been in the basement of the league’s standings all season, and it might only get worse from here as Devin Vassell has been ruled out for the next few weeks.

Vassell was second in points per game for the Spurs, so without him, San Antonio should have a tough time reaching 100 points. The Spurs ranked 19th in offensive rating in the last 10 games prior to Friday night’s game which means they will likely drop several places without Vassell. Also, in that 10-game span, San Antonio ranks dead last in defensive rating and has the 4th-highest turnover rate. And if that’s not enough, the Spurs are 1-6 with a -13.6 MOV in the second game of a back-to-back.

Utah Jazz ML (+102) over Chicago Bulls

The Jazz snapped a 5-game losing streak with a win over the Rockets on Thursday, but their losing streak is slightly deceiving. All 5 losses were decided by 5 or fewer points, with 3 of the games being separated by 3 or fewer points. They’ve been at the short end of the stick recently, but I think they can start a winning streak on Saturday night. Utah will be taking on the Bulls in Chicago, and the Jazz will start at an immediate advantage. Chicago will be on the second leg of a back-to-back as they faced the 76ers on Friday night. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bulls listed a few key bench members questionable to avoid tired legs since Chicago is 3-4 with a losing MOV on the second night of a back-to-back.

It could be tough to limit the Jazz offense that has become one of the best in the Western Conference in recent weeks. Utah has scored 115 points or more in 7 of their last 8 games, and a big reason for that is Lauri Markkanen is in the midst of a career season. I’m surprised to see Utah as the underdog in this matchup, so at plus-money, listen to the music and take the Jazz.

Sacramento Kings win by 11+ (+120) over Los Angeles Lakers

Fading teams on the second leg of a back-to-back has been a common theme in this mega parlay, so I’ll stick with it and back the Kings for a big win against the Lakers. Los Angeles hosted the Hawks on Friday night, and the important part of that is that LeBron James started. James has been questionable for every game of the second night of a back-to-back since the King said he would determine playing in back-to-backs based on how he felt. I would not be surprised to see James sit out on Saturday night. If that happens, the spread of this game will likely jump to at least 10. That’s why I’m taking the winning margin bet now, as I believe this bet won’t be plus odds for much longer.

There is also a possibility of Russell Westbrook sitting out as the Lakers have been careful with his health ever since moving him to the bench. Los Angeles is already without Anthony Davis, so without James or Westbrook, the Lakers would be in for a long night against one of the best offenses in basketball. Sacramento averages the 2nd-most points per game at home, and the only name on the injured list right now is Malik Monk. Los Angeles is 1-4 with a -14.2 MOV in the second leg of a back-to-back, and against a high-powered Kings offense, this should be a blowout win for Sacramento.
