Orlando Magic win by 1-10 points (+195) over Charlotte Hornets

If you were to look at just the records of these teams, you might understand this spread. However, the Magic are one of the most deceiving teams in the NBA. They’ve recently beaten the 76ers, Pelicans and Celtics (for the third time this season) as their young team continues to show flashes of dominance. Orlando has had a relatively tough schedule in the last few weeks and has held its own, but the same cannot be said for the Hornets. They are known as sellers at the trade deadline, and all their veteran players are available. They continue to be one of the most undisciplined teams in the association, and their offense has been their weakest link, although LaMelo Ball is a stud and can put up a triple double on any given night.

But the Hornets bench is terrible, and in the last 10 games, Charlotte ranks 29th in offensive rating, 30th in true shooting percentage and 30th in EFG%. The Magic have the height advantage and should dominate Mason Plumlee in the paint, so this should be a much bigger win for Orlando than oddsmakers expect.

Sacramento Kings ML (+110) over New Orleans Pelicans

Not having De’Aaron Fox is unfortunate, but the Pelicans might be in even deeper trouble. They have lost 10 of their last 11 games and could be without big man Jonas Valanciunas, who was injured in Saturday’s game. Valanciunas left early with a knee injury and will undergo an MRI on Sunday, so it seems hard to imagine that he will be healthy enough to play. If not, I expect an explosive performance from Domantas Sabonis since New Orleans does not have anyone else as physical or athletic as Valanciunas.

And on the perimeter, Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter and Keegan Murray should all see an increase in their usage without Fox running the show. The bottom line is New Orleans should struggle to get rebounds and second-chance opportunities without Valanciunas, so I think the Kings can pull the upset.

Denver Nuggets -1 (-110) over Minnesota Timberwolves

Whenever the Nuggets are on the second leg of a back-to-back, it’s important to check the status of Denver’s top players. At the time of writing, Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon and Bones Hyland are all probable to play. It helps that Denver won by 20 on Saturday, so no Nuggets starter played more than 36 minutes. Jamal Murray was excellent, scoring 41 points in just 36 minutes, and Jokic managed to record a triple double in just 34 minutes. This Denver team has exceptional depth and is a legitimate threat to win the Western Conference.

The Nuggets will face the Timberwolves on Sunday, and they could be fortunate enough to miss Rudy Gobert. The towering French center has been downgraded to questionable as he continues to deal with a groin injury, and that could once again put more pressure on Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell. But those guards have an uphill battle with the height that Denver has on the perimeter and Jokic in the paint. It’s not an ideal scenario getting the Nuggets on a back-to-back, but they are a good enough team to win by at least a bucket.
