The Philadelphia Eagles and the New Orleans Saints face off on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Superdome with the winner advancing to the NFC Championship game. The Saints are eight-point favorites in this game and the total is set at 50.5. The home team has won the last two games played between the two teams. When these two teams faced off last year the Saints came out ahead 48-7.

Philadelphia Eagles

The middle of the season the Philadelphia Eagles looked dead but after another injury to Carson Wentz, Nick Foles has risen to the occasion again and now there are questions if this season is going to end like last year for the Eagles.

They already had one lucky bounce when Cody Parkey missed a kick as time expired to allow the Eagles to even advance to this game. Coming into this game they have won four games in a row and although the offense and Nick Foles gets the attention, the last few games it’s actually been the defense that has stepped up. Two weeks ago against Washington, they gave up zero points and last week against the Bears they gave up only 15.

So far this season Nick Foles has thrown for 1,413 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions. Sometimes his throws aren’t the prettiest but when the going gets tough and the Eagles need a big throw Foles seems to always get it done.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are the number one seed in the NFC and anything less than winning the Super Bowl probably has to be considered a disappointment this year.

For the Saints it’s all about Drew Brees and the offense and how they perform. On the season they are averaging 31.5 points per game while giving up 22.1 points per game.

At home the offense is even better averaging 34.1 points and the home field advantage in New Orleans is one of the best in football. Drew Brees hasn’t shown his age throwing for 3,992 yards, 32 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has all kinds of weapons like Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara out of the backfield.

On the defensive side the stats aren’t great but they have stepped up in key games. This is a team that has given up 17 points or less in six of their last eight games. In their last game they did give up 33 points put a lot of the starters were resting.
