Dallas-Seattle has been one of the better series’ of this second round considering the number of blowouts in the remaining 3 series’. Neither the Stars or Kraken have won consecutive games yet in this series as they have each bounced back with a win after a loss. The Stars return home after a big Game 4 win to put an end to that trend and get the Kraken on the ropes. Now being a best of 3, Game 5 should reflect Games 1 and 2 of this series in terms of being close with a thin margin of error.

Stars -1.5 (+125)

The Stars have won 2 games in this series by 2+ goals. In their Game 1 loss, they still went beyond regulation but lost by a score of 5-4. Dallas has scored 21 goals in 5 home games in these playoffs. That is an average of 4.2 goals scored per game at home. They have to be feeling great going back home where they have played well and just put up a 6-spot on the road in Game 4.

This series when Dallas won, the Kraken scored just 5 goals. But when Seattle won, the Kraken scored 12 goals. The Stars are the better defensive team overall. If they can contain the Kraken, the trend seems to be a Stars multi-goal win. The script of this series is the same as the Stars’ first series in which they lost Game 1 in overtime, won Game 2, lost Game 3 big, and won Game 4 big. Dallas has done this already and will be anxious to repeat the results of Game 5 and 6 against Minnesota.

Over 6.5 (+125)

The Kraken and Stars are a couple of very good offensive teams and have shown as much through 4 games of this series. Depth and goal-scoring has been on full display between these teams. Among NHL ranks during the regular season, the Kraken and Stars respectively were 4th and 7th in goals scored per game, while Seattle led the league in goals scored 5 on 5 and Dallas had the 5th best power play. Performances in this series have reflected the offensive strength of these teams.

There have been 35 total goals scored in this series for an average game total of 8.75 goals. That is safely above this 6.5 total, which has valuable +115 odds. The over was 3-0 between these teams in their regular season head-to-head matchups as well. With that, the over is now 7-0 in the 2022-2023 season in Kraken-Stars matchups between the regular season and playoffs. When these teams meet, totals climb.

Joe Pavelski anytime goal scorer (+125)

Joe Pavelski has been fantastic in his 5 games in these playoffs. After being on the wrong side of an ugly hit in the opening round, Pavelski missed a few games. But since his return, he looks youthful as ever. Pavelski has 7 points in his 5 games this postseason including 6 in 4 games against the Kraken. After a dominant 4-goal performance in Game 1, Pavelski has validated that game by scoring in 2 of the next 3 games.

The Stars are now in a best-of-3 with home-ice advantage. They are in a great spot to take the series lead and have a chance to put the final nail in Seattle’s coffin in Game 6. Joe Pavelski has played in more than 2 full seasons worth of playoff games. He has 70 goals and 132 points in 173 career playoff games. That is a heck of a pedigree. When the games matter most, Pavelski shows up and has the track record to prove it.
