NHL Thursday mega parlay (+886 odds): Oilers can get back on track

Connor McDavid celebrates his 100th point of the regular season for Edmonton.

It’s Thursday and there are 11 games on the NHL docket tonight. What a wonderful thing. With a jam-packed slate, we have plenty of betting options to consider. One way we are spicing things up is with a 3-leg mega parlay. This parlay is paying out north of 8/1 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. I will break down each leg in this article, but before I do that, be sure to check out our full game previews for each matchup tonight. Oilers ML (+126)

Jets -1.5 (+140)

Islanders vs Devils under 5.5 (-122)

Parlay odds: +886

Edmonton Oilers ML (+126) over Boston Bruins

The Oilers rank 2nd in goals and 1st in goals per game in the NHL.  The Bruins are performing even worse offensively than their 22nd overall ranking as they rank in the bottom 10 for goals and goals per game.  Defensively, the Oilers are doing better than their expected goals against per 60 minutes ranking and the Bruins are doing worse than their 1st overall ranking would indicate. Follow the blueprint from Saturday night’s game when the Bruins played the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs are offensively minded like the Oilers and beat the Bruins very handily. The Oilers are 9-2-0, in 1st place in the Pacific Division, and highly motivated coming off a loss to the Detroit Red Wings.  Take the Oilers.

Winnipeg Jets -1.5 over San Jose Sharks (+140)

Winnipeg is coming off a shootout loss to St. Louis in which they outplayed the Blues for most of the game but ran into a hot Jordan Binnington.  The Jets are playing well in general as they have only 1 regulation loss in their last 10 games.  Their record over that time is 6-1-3.  One of those overtime losses came to the Sharks. When the Sharks beat the Jets last month, they were missing their head coach and 7 players in COVID protocols. The Sharks are still banged up as Erik Karlsson and Marc-Edouard Vlasic are on the IR along with Timo Meier, Kevin Labanc, and Matthew Nieto. It’s tough to see a good Jets team losing another game to a Sharks team that has players dropping like flies. Winnipeg is deeper than San Jose and they need 2 points in games like this in which they have the edge.

Islanders vs Devils under 5.5 (-122)

Even though the Islanders rank near average in terms of expected goals against per 60 minutes, their on-ice production says otherwise. They are top 5 in goals against per game at 2.4, which includes 2 shutouts in their last 5 games. Basically, it will take an off-night from the Islanders or a red-hot offensive game from their opponent to put 3 or more goals on this team. Being a division game, the Islanders will be ready to play and the Devils offense isn’t all that impressive. Before their 7-goal outburst in their last game, the Devils were averaging just 2.6 goals per game, which ranked in the bottom third of the league in that category. Take the under.
