I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. Tonight marks back-to-back nights with a solid 8-game slate in the NHL. In fact, our entire week is jam-packed with action before the league is off for a few days over the holiday weekend. Therefore, let’s make it as profitable as possible to cover our bets for those nights. Whether you’re looking to be able to get some extra gifts or just want to boost your bankroll, we have a mega parlay with our 3 favorite plays of the night. There are 3 different markets to cover, so let’s check ‘em out. Before we dive in, be sure to check out our NHL picks for today’s action.

New Jersey Devils ML over Carolina Hurricanes (+110)

The New Jersey Devils have been in command of the Metro Division throughout the season thus far. However, their Cinderella story has taken a turn for the worst as of late. Following their loss to the Florida Panthers on Saturday, they have now dropped their last 5 games and the Hurricanes have actually tied them for the division lead. That makes this matchup all the more important, and the Devils can answer the call. They have been off since that Saturday loss and it’s important to note who their losses have come against.

New Jersey has had to play the New York Rangers, Dallas Stars and Panthers in that stretch. Those are more than understandable losses, and the rest should help the bounce back. Carolina is coming off 2 incredibly difficult, hard-fought games against the Pittsburgh Penguins and Stars, and each of their last 3 games have been decided by just 1 goal. Furthermore, arguably their best skater — Sebastian Aho — is not 100% healthy. I am anticipating a more defensive game, but the Devils are no stranger to that this season and can use that to their advantage and snap this losing skid.

Winnipeg Jets -1.5 over Ottawa Senators (+158)

The Senators were likely riding high after their 6-3 win against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday but were quickly brought back down to Earth the next day with a multi-goal loss to the Minnesota Wild. Ottawa will experience an even more defensively stout team when it travels across Canada to Winnipeg. The Jets are coming off quite a surprising loss to the Seattle Kraken, but they still sit in 2nd place in the Central Division above the aforementioned Wild.

They wll be able to threaten the Stars with a win tonight, which they should get in convincing fashion against a Senators team that still has a sub-.500 record. One aspect of Ottawa’s game that has been hurting is putting itself at a disadvantage by its own fault. The Sens are allowing the 4th-most penalties per game this season and the Jets certainly have sharpshooters like Kyle Connor that can take advantage. Even if the Senators get some powerplays, themselves, it’s going to be tough to capitalize. At 82.1%, Connor and company have the 5th-best penalty kill in the NHL. This may not be the marquee matchup of the night, but we can still use it to our benefit.

St. Louis Blues vs Seattle Kraken – Over 6.5 (+105)

The Western Conference matchup originally opened with a total of just 6, and it’s surprising that 6.5 is still listed at plus money. Regardless, I’ll take it with 2 teams that have struggled to stop the opposition from finding the back of the net. The Blues have been a streaky team all season, and part of that has been due to no longer having goaltender Vile Husso. That means Jordan Binnington has been left to carry the team; he has not had his best season.

Worse yet, St. Louis will be heading to Seattle just hours after being in Vancouver to take on the Canucks. That’s bad news for a team that has already allowed the 6th-most goals per game this season. As for the Kraken, there’s no denying they have surprised most fans this year. While the Kraken have vastly improved, they have still been a part of some high-scoring contests — especially recently. Over the last month, Seattle has allowed 3.92 goals per game — tied for the 3rd most in the NHL. With the Blues at a nearly identical mark of 3.93 goals allowed per game in the last 30 days, there is no reason this game should have ever been listed at 6 goals to begin with.
