PropsMadness: The Player Props Tool Serious NBA Bettors Are Using in 2026-27
PropsMadness is a player prop research tool for the NBA, with NFL, WNBA and MLB coverage, available on the web and as a native app on iOS and Android. It is not a picks service. Instead of telling bettors what to play, it gives them the data to decide for themselves: hit rates against any line, full game logs, matchup data that goes well past the box score, and more than 50 filters per league for narrowing a player's history down to the games that resemble tonight's.
The last time Pickswise looked at PropsMadness, it was an NBA and WNBA tool built around one idea: showing bettors why a prop line sits where it does, not just whether a player has gone over lately. That core is still there, but a lot has been added around it. For the 2026-27 NBA season, PropsMadness has introduced an A+ to F matchup grade on every prop, a board that puts the whole slate on one screen, bet tracking with closing line value, and a rebuilt 2.0 app that is rolling out on iOS and Android now. Here is a look at what is new and how it works.
What are PropsMadness matchup grades?
The headline addition for this season is the matchup grade. Every NBA and NFL prop on PropsMadness now carries a grade from A+ down to F that summarizes how tonight's opponent has defended that kind of production. A high grade indicates a defense that has been soft against it; a low grade, one that has been tough.
The grades are placed where they are hard to miss: on every prop card in Explore and next to the line on each player page. That means a bettor can see whether the matchup leans toward or against a number before opening a single chart. MLB props use the same scale in the form of a starting pitcher grade, which PropsMadness builds from the contact and power the pitcher allows.
PropsMadness is careful to position the grade as a description of the matchup rather than a recommendation. Sportsbooks account for matchups when they set lines, so the grade works best as a starting point for research rather than a verdict on a prop.
What is PropsMadness Explore?
Most prop research starts with a player the bettor already has in mind. Explore reverses that and starts from the whole slate.
Every prop sits on one board. Each card shows the player and matchup, the line with live odds, the matchup grade, and a strip of recent results against that line, one mark per game, so a prop that has gone over in 8 of its last 10 is obvious at a glance. The window is adjustable: last 5, 10, 15 or 30 games, or the full season.
The board can then be screened rather than scrolled. Users can keep only props that have cleared the line in a set share of recent games, filter by matchup grade, and stack NBA filters such as opponent defensive ranks on top, turning a full night of props into a short list. Browsing the board is free; filtering, sorting and custom columns require PropsMadness Pro. Explore is the home screen of the new app and is also available on the web for every league.
Understanding the NBA matchup
The play type breakdowns and shooting zone charts that stood out in the original PropsMadness remain the core of its NBA product. They show where a player scores from, how much of that production comes from pick-and-roll, isolation or spot-ups, and how tonight's defense ranks against exactly those actions.
The NBA player page has also added several pieces of context that tend to move props the most:
- Expected minutes on the game log graph, from PropsMadness's own model, so a minutes bump or cap is visible next to the line.
- With/without splits. When a teammate is out, tapping that teammate shows the player's hit rate in the games they missed.
- Potential assists, plus opponent ranks for every NBA market.
- The matchup grade beside the prop.
The other leagues get tools built for their own sport rather than a shared template. NFL player pages include a matchup radar, target zones, target share, man vs zone coverage splits, game weather and an injury report that tracks each team's practice participation through the week. MLB pages include a pitch-level matchup analyzer with percentile rankings, plus opposing lineup and bullpen views, park factors and weather.
Similar players and advanced filters
Similar Players addresses a question box scores can't: how have players like this one fared against tonight's opponent? Comparable players can be grouped two ways, by PropsMadness's own playstyle and shot-zone model or by traditional position, with each one's line, result and margin against that defense listed.
The filters are what separate PropsMadness from a standard stats site. There are more than 50 stackable filters per league, and the hit rate recalculates live against only the games that match. For example, two filters are enough to limit a guard's scoring log to games against defenses ranked 15th to 30th at the rim and in the mid-range, and the graph redraws with just those games. Defensive ranks are recorded as they stood on the date of each game rather than applying today's rank backwards, which keeps the filtered samples honest.
According to PropsMadness, expected minutes, potential assists, similar players and the matchup grades are all modeled in-house rather than pulled from a third-party feed.
Real-time odds and line shopping
The same prop pays differently at every book, and PropsMadness shows real-time odds from 40+ sportsbooks side by side for each one, making it easy to find the best available price. The line on the graph can also be dragged to any number to check the hit rate against an alt line instead of the main one.
Bet tracking
The new app also adds bet tracking. Tapping the plus next to any prop logs a bet at the line and price taken, with the stake set in units or dollars. It is a tracker, not a sportsbook: bets are still placed at the user's book, and no money moves through PropsMadness.
The dashboard turns that log into a performance view: net profit and ROI over any date range, record, best day and longest streak, and closing line value, which compares the price a bettor got with where the market closed. Once enough bets have settled, it breaks results down by league, market, timing and side. Individual bets can be shared as images.
Is PropsMadness free?
PropsMadness is free to try, with the full product behind a subscription. The free tier requires no signup and no credit card, and it is not a time-limited trial. It includes a few players per league with hit-rate charts and full game logs, the Explore board, and the weekly NFL matchup cheat sheet.
PropsMadness Pro unlocks every player, every filter, sorting and custom columns in Explore, and odds comparison across 40+ sportsbooks. As of October 2026, Pro costs $25 per month or $250 per year, which works out to two months free on the annual plan.
Who is PropsMadness for?
PropsMadness suits bettors who do their own research rather than follow someone else's picks. Anyone who already checks matchups, injuries and lines before betting a prop will find most of that work in one place, along with context that is hard to find elsewhere, from defensive ranks as of game day to how a player produces without a key teammate. With the NBA season tipping off, it is one of the more complete prop research tools available.
PropsMadness is available at propsmadness.com, on the App Store and on Google Play.
