Borussia Dortmund has done well to get to this point in the tournament, but they’ve struggled to take out major European clubs in other competitions. These 2 teams actually faced off in the Champions League this past season, and Real Madrid won that contest 5-2. During the 2024/25 season, Dortmund posted a 2-2-4 record against Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona, and their only victories came against Leverkusen and Barcelona when they already lost the first leg against the Catalans 4-0.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid has rounded into form after their initial group-stage draw against Al-Hilal. They only beat Juventus 1-0 in the Round of 16, but Xabi Alonso’s men had more chances to score and tallied 11 shots on target. They’ll need to be more clinical against Dortmund, but that shouldn’t be too difficult given that the German club allowed 3 goals to Mamelodi Sundowns and another to Monterrey, both of which are worse than Madrid. Finally, the addition of Antonio Rudiger in the back brings another dimension to this Spanish side, so I’ll back them to get the job done in regulation against Borussia Dortmund.
