NHL pick today: Tampa Bay Lightning 3-way ML over San Jose Sharks (-130), 4:30 pm ET

It’s evident that the Sharks are rebuilding for the future and their lack of playmakers across the ice has made it tough for them to win games, so they should struggle tonight against a talented and experienced Tampa club. The Sharks offense has been miserable in the early going, scoring the fewest goals per game in the league. That doesn’t bode well as one of the league’s premier goaltenders makes his way into town, as Andrei Vasilevksiy took the night off against the Ducks on Wednesday and heads into today’s game fully rested.

On the other side, the Sharks defense has been a bit better, ranking 14th in goals against per game, but the Lightning still possess a deep group of forwards who should be able to wear down the San Jose defenders. The win over the Leafs had to give the Sharks a jolt of confidence, but the Lightning still have advantages all across the ice in this matchup and should be able to take care of business on the road.

College Football pick today: Wake Forest Demon Deacons -3 over Louisville Cardinals (-120), 3:30 pm ET

It is typically advantageous to play behind your home crowds, but Louisville is just 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 home games against teams with a winning record. Wake Forest’s only loss this season was an overtime loss to Clemson. With some concerns about their overall strength of schedule to this point, as well as games against currently ranked opponents in the next 3 weeks, one could argue this is a potential let-down spot for Wake Forest. That is perhaps why the line has moved in favor of the home underdog, but Wake Forest is the superior team, so backing them to cover will be the play.

College Football pick today: Kentucky Wildcats +11.5 over Tennessee Volunteers (-110), 7:00  pm ET

The Tennessee Volunteers are the talk of college football after their win over Alabama. The Kentucky Wildcats, however, come into this game with the #9 scoring defense in the country and they are riding a 3-0 ATS run against AP-ranked opponents this season. Kentucky has also typically relished these spots where they can take advantage of a look-ahead spot for Tennessee as the Volunteers have a date with AP number one Georgia next week.

The Wildcats defense is also very impressive. The only other SEC offense that comes close to matching Tennessee is Mississippi State (55th in passing efficiency). Kentucky held that offense to 225 total yards and one offensive touchdown. They may not slow down the Volunteers that much, but if they can keep them in the low 30s, Kentucky can cover this number.

NBA pick today: Indiana Pacers vs Brooklyn Nets – Over 237 points (-110), 7:40 pm ET

It’s all about offense when these teams play and the oddsmakers are aware of that. The number set was easily surpassed in 4 of the last 5 meetings, including the 2 most recent encounters. Those trends could continue tonight, as these teams are ranked 29th and 30th in defensive efficiency in the NBA.

The total has cashed in 10 of 13 for Indiana and in 4 of 5 against Atlantic Division opponents. For Brooklyn the over has landed in 4 of 6 overall, so backing the over will be the play.
