EPL pick today: Liverpool vs Crystal Palace – Both teams to score – Yes (-140), 2:45 pm ET

Despite being reduced to 10 men and trailing 2-0, Newcastle put up plenty of resistance against Liverpool and was unfortunate not to score, registering an expected-goals figure of 2.09. It was only the second shutout in 11 Premier League road games for Liverpool and its defense was in shambles against Madrid.

Crystal Palace on the other hand, is inconsistent and winless in 7 games, but can show up well against the EPL’s top clubs. Both teams have scored in Palace’s away games against Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United this season, while it was also a winning bet in home matchups with United and Chelsea. For that reason, backing both teams to score will be the play.

NHL pick today: Boston Bruins 3-Way ML over Vancouver Canucks (-155), 7:00 pm ET

The Canucks may not be the worst overall team in the league, but they’ve been one of the worst goaltending teams. In fact, since the beginning of the new year, no team has allowed more goals per game, and that includes the Anaheim Ducks. That’s not good news for Canucks fans, as the Bruins have scored the 2nd-most goals per game this season. Because of their lack of goaltending, backing the Bruins to win in regulation will be the play.

MLS pick today: Philadelphia Union ML vs Columbus Crew (-145), 7:30 pm ET

Philadelphia may still be licking their wounds following defeat in last year’s MLS Cup final, but they were superb in the 2022 regular season, posting 19 wins from 34 matches. There is no reason to think that the Union will be dropping off this year and should be able to get the new season started with victory over Columbus Crew. Philadelphia has won its last 4 home games against Columbus and should be able to extend that run.

College Basketball pick today: Gonzaga Bulldogs -5 vs Saint Mary’s Gaels (-110), 10:00 pm ET

Any way you look at it, Saint Mary’s stole the first game in this series back on February 4. Since that game, these teams have been trending in different directions. On one hand, Gonzaga is in the midst of a torrid stretch offensively, averaging nearly 96 points per game over their last 4 contests. This is now the most efficient offense in the country per KenPom.

On the other side, the Gaels’ offense has been quite inconsistent against mostly awful defenses, which doesn’t bode well in a hostile road environment that could speed the game up. The Zags should be able to dictate the pace and game flow more at the Kennel, where Gonzaga has owned this rivalry historically. Given that the Zags have the best unit on the floor and they’ll be itching to exact revenge and even the race for the WCC title, backing the Bulldogs will be the play.
