College Basketball pick today: San Diego State Aztecs ML over Creighton Bluejays (+115), 2:20 pm ET

Per KenPom, the Aztecs rank 4th in adjusted defensive efficiency, and of the remaining teams, play with the slowest tempo (255th). Most impressive is their perimeter defense, which ranks 3rd best in the nation by holding their opponents to 28.2% from beyond the arc.

Creighton’s style of play is very similar to that of Alabama, and the Aztecs will likely have the upper hand in this matchup in a number of ways. Like Alabama, the Bluejays rely heavily on knocking down shots from beyond the arc; however, there has been numerous times throughout their season where a poor shooting night from outside was the difference between a win and a loss simply because of their refusal to abandon their style of play. Because they are so reliant on their 3-point shooting, backing the Aztecs to win will be our best play.

XFL pick today: Houston Renegades -3.0 over San Antonio Brahmas (-110), 3:00 pm ET

These teams just played each other last week, and Arlington won that matchup on the road. The Renegades held San Antonio to just 10 points in that one, and the Brahmas have now lost three in a row in ugly fashion. On top of that, the last time the Brahmas went on the road, they only scored six points in a lopsided loss to Seattle.

It’s also worth noting that Arlington is 2-0 at home this year, therefore backing them to win and cover will be the play.

College Basketball pick today: Miami Hurricanes +4 over Texas Longhorns (-110), 5:05 pm ET

For having an excellent defense, Texas has not been incredible in defend in pick-and-roll and in isolation defense this season. The Longhorns rank in just the 53rd and 67th percentile in those play types according to Synergy, which is concerning against Miami’s offense.

The Hurricanes’ offense is predicated on creating a mismatch and then exploiting that mismatch. Miami ranks in the 77th percentile in pick-and-roll offense and in the 96th percentile in isolation offense, so their offensive success could continue here. Lastly, Texas is not a team that is going to punish Miami on the glass. Miami ranks just 175th in defensive rebounding rate, but Texas ranks 191st in offensive rebounding rate. For that reason, backing the Canes to cover will be the play.

NHL pick today: Vancouver Canucks vs Chicago Blackhawks – Over 6.5 goals (-115), 6:00 pm ET

The Canucks and Blackhawks have met once this season in a game which Vancouver won 5-2. Vancouver has been producing to the tune of an 11-5-1 record in their last 17 games. During that span, they have scored 4+ goals on Dallas twice, Toronto, and Ottawa among other opponents. Chicago on the other hand, has allowed 15 goals over their last 3 games as of Saturday.

Entering tonight’s game, the over is 43-26-3 this season for the Canucks including 25-10-1 on the road. Those consistent high totals are due to Vancouver’s decent goal scoring which ranks 11th in the NHL, and below average goal prevention which ranks 27th. For that reason, backing the over will be our best bet.
