EPL pick today: Manchester City ML over Aston Villa (-295), 11:30 am ET
Manchester City has had a turbulent few days on and off the pitch but can settle things down by defeating Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium this morning. The game against Villa is one City dearly needs to win, but Pep Guardiola’s team selection will be interesting because he is sure to have one eye on next Wednesday’s road game at Arsenal.
Villa manager Unai Emery is usually tactically astute and regularly steered his former club, Villarreal, to positive results against supposedly superior opposition. However, City has been a strong second-half team in recent weeks and should eventually get the job done.

College Basketball pick today: Purdue Boilermakers -4.5 over Northwestern Wildcats (-110), 2:00 pm ET
Purdue is the Big Ten’s best offense and will have a major advantage on the glass in this game against Northwestern. The Boilermakers lead the country in offensive rebounding rate, while Northwestern ranks 13th in the Big Ten and 138th nationally in defensive rebounding rate.
Northwestern’s offense is also not good enough to keep up with Purdue considering that they live at the free-throw line in Big Ten play. Purdue is the best team in the country at preventing free-throw attempts from their opponents, which makes Purdue covering worth a play.

NHL pick today: Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 over Anaheim Ducks (-130), 3:07 pm ET
The first big disadvantage comes to the Ducks even before the puck is dropped, as they placed top forward Troy Terry on IR yesterday, who hurt himself with an upper-body injury in the last game. The Ducks haven’t done a good job in creating scoring chances either, as they rank 25th in expected goals over the past month.
Going up against the struggling Ducks offense will be a Golden Knights team that has a top defensive unit. In the past month the Golden Knights rank 3rd in expected goals against, which has led them to a top 10 ranking in goals allowed per game over the same time frame. Look for the Golden Knights to lock down the Ducks offense and place your bet on the Golden Knights puck line.

Super Bowl 57 pick today: Philadelphia Eagles -1.5 over Kansas City Chiefs (-110), 6:30 pm ET
The Philadelphia Eagles continue to prove the doubters wrong but will have their toughest test of the season in the big game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles have the better statistical defense, but there’s a fair argument to be made about not ever really being challenged by another team.
That being said, there are still questions surrounding the health of Patrick Mahomes and how much mobility he will have tonight. Regardless of who is playing quarterback against the Eagles, they were better at getting to the quarterback than any team in the league this season and if they have that same success, they can control this game. For that reason, backing the Eagles to cover and win Super Bowl 57 will be the play.
