EPL pick today: Manchester United +0.5 over Liverpool (-180), 11:30 am ET

Manchester United’s 2-1 home win over Liverpool in August was seen as a surprise result at the time, but the clubs have gone in different directions over the last 6 months and there is every chance of the Red Devils completing an EPL season sweep at Anfield this season.

Liverpool started the season as second-favorite to win the EPL but is heading for a trophyless campaign and seems likely to finish outside the top 4. While Liverpool could not be backed with any confidence, a home record of 7 wins, 3 ties and only 1 loss is still solid. For that reason, backing United +0.5 goals looks to be worth a play for this parlay.

College basketball pick today: Penn State Nittany Lions -3.5 over Maryland Terrapins (-110), 12:00 pm ET

The best play in this game is for Penn State to cover the spread because Maryland is not a good team on the road. Maryland is an impressive 13-4 against the spread at home this season but just 3-7 against the spread on the road. The Terrapins are coming off a road loss to Ohio State where they failed to cover the spread and I expect that trend to continue.

Penn State has quietly won 4 out of its last 5 games and has snuck into the bubble conversation. The loss came at home to Rutgers by 3 points, but the Nittany Lions followed that with a road win against Northwestern. Penn State will have the home crowd behind them, and are in must-win territory, so we’ll back the Nittany Lions to cover this short spread.

XFL pick today: St. Louis Battlehawks +3 over DC Defenders (-105), 1:00 pm ET

Oddsmakers have the Defenders as a slight favorite of 2 points, but I like the underdog. DC has really struggled to move the ball on offense, passing for just 183 yards through 2 games. The Defenders have only 20 completions and none of them has gone for more than 20 yards. To put that in perspective, no other team in the league has fewer than 34 completions.

On the flip side, I like what I have seen from St. Louis quarterback AJ McCarron. McCarron is good enough to still be in the NFL, but he chose to go to the XFL just so he could get more playing time. The former Alabama star has led comeback victories in back-to-back weeks now, and he is the only starting quarterback in the league who has yet to throw an interception. Because the Battlehawks are playing clean football, backing them to cover will be the play.

NHL pick today: New Jersey Devils -1.5 over Arizona Coyotes, 7:00 pm ET

The Devils and Coyotes are both coming off losses on Friday night. The Devils fell to the Vegas Golden Knights in a shootout, who are currently the top seed in the Western Conference. New Jersey was the far better team, though, and the Coyotes are one of the worst teams in the Western Conference and were just smashed 6-1 at home.

In their last 5 games, Arizona has lost by multiple goals 4 times. We’ll trust the Devils to take care of business.
