College Basketball pick today: San Diego State Aztecs -5 over Charleston Cougars (-110), 3:10 pm ET
San Diego State is the recommended side in this matchup, as their excellent defense should cause problems for Charleston’s offense. Charleston loves to play in transition, as the Cougars rank sixth nationally in initial transition shot attempt rate, per Hoop-Math. They have a deep rotation, so their break-neck pace allows them to wear teams down for over 40 minutes.
However, this is a brutal matchup that could cripple their ability to play their desired style. The Aztecs rank in the 80th percentile in half-court defense, per Synergy. San Diego State is prone to scoring droughts, but look for them to cover the spread based on the strength of their defense.

College Basketball pick today: Auburn Tigers -1 over Iowa Hawkeyes (-110), 6:40 pm ET
The Auburn Tigers flamed out of the SEC Tournament in their first game against Arkansas, and the Tigers have managed a dismal 4-9 straight-up record dating back to January 21, when they had been ranked in the top 25. Despite all of that, Auburn still made the NCAA Tournament field thanks to a late win over Tennessee at home and a resounding 33-point victory over fellow tournament team Missouri.
Auburn is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 NCAA Tournament games, going 13-5 ATS in the last 18 games following a straight-up loss. On the flip side, Iowa is 0-5 ATS in the last 5 neutral-site games and 3-7 ATS in the last 10 overall. In addition, the Hawkeyes are a dismal 3-10 ATS in their last 13 NCAA Tournament games. For that reason, backing Auburn to win and cover will be the play.

NHL pick today: Colorado Avalanche vs Ottawa Senators – Over 6.5 goals (-125), 7:00 pm ET
While it’s difficult to argue that the Avs are the stronger team, the Senators are no slouches. With Colorado being on the 2nd night of a back-to-back, we’d prefer to play the total rather than have to worry about a potential upset. Ottawa still has studs like Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle that can help them take down even the strongest teams, which certainly holds true when facing a backup goaltender.
The Avs also have more than enough firepower to find the back of the net early and often with Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar. The Sens just allowed 6 goals on Tuesday night and have allowed at least 4 goals in each of their last 5 games. For that reason, backing the over will be the play tonight.

College Basketball pick today: Oral Roberts Golden Eagles +6.5 over Duke Blue Devils (-115), 7:10 pm ET
Duke hit its stride down the stretch. It is a young team, but its star players finally started playing like stars. Over the past month, they have been sneaky good on both ends of the court, ranking in the top 20 in both offensive and defensive metrics down the stretch.
Oral Roberts, on the other hand, is a veteran team. They played several tournament teams early in the season, getting clobbered by Houston, and losing close games to Saint Mary’s and Utah State, all on the road. ORU is a top-tier offense though, and they are especially potent from deep. This team has multiple shooters, and Duke is better at defending the rim than the arc. For that reason, backing the Golden Eagles to cover will be the play.
