College Basketball pick today: Michigan Wolverines +3.5 over Northwestern Wildcats (-115), 7:00 pm ET

Michigan is the recommended side in this game, as they match up well with Northwestern. Northwestern’s defense hasn’t been quite as good in conference play as it was in the nonconference season. The Wildcats rank just 10th in the Big Ten in KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency metric, but they still have been great at forcing turnovers, which they do at the highest rate in the conference.

Despite Northwestern’s ability to force turnovers, Michigan is excellent at protecting the ball. The Wolverines rank sixth in the entire country in offensive turnover rate. If Michigan can take good care of the ball, they should be able to score on the Wildcat defense. For that reason, backing Michigan to cover will be the play.

NBA pick today: Los Angeles Lakers -1.5 over Indiana Pacers (-108), 7:10 pm ET

Lakers fans have every right to hope for a good result tonight as their team has gone 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games on the road. On the other hand, the Pacers have covered the spread only once in 9 games and they’ve also lost 5 in a row against Western Conference teams.

Although the Lakers’ record in Indiana hasn’t been ideal (1-5 ATS in their last 6 visits), they are in a good groove heading into tonight’s game. I don’t think the Pacers will have an answer for Anthony Davis in this one, therefore backing the Lakers to win and cover will be the play.

NBA pick today: Miami Heat -2 over New York Knicks (-106), 7:40 pm ET

New York has a losing record at Madison Square Garden this season. That is weird for a reasonably good team. Miami has not been great on the road this season, though I was impressed by the way the Heat handled Cleveland. Right now, these teams look to be heading in different directions. This is a small number and I am looking for Miami to grind out a win. This is the first time these teams have met this season and the more veteran Heat team can take advantage of the Knicks.

College Basketball pick today: Arizona Wildcats -7.5 over Oregon Ducks (-120), 10:30 pm ET

The Oregon Ducks will travel to Tucson on tonight to play a PAC 12 Conference game against the Arizona Wildcats. Oregon dominated the first matchup between these two teams, but my favorite play of this game is still Arizona -7.5. Arizona is the better team here as they have lost just three games on the season.

According to KenPom, Oregon’s offense is ranked #321 in three-point percentage, so it is unlikely that they will be able to score enough to stay in this game. On the other hand, Arizona’s offense is elite as they are ranked #12 in effective field goal percentage and #14 in adjusted efficiency. For that reason, backing the Wildcats to win comfortably will be the play.
