NBA pick today: Boston Celtics vs Washington Wizards – Over 224.5 points (-110), 7:10 pm ET

The Celtics have scored at least 120 points in 4 of their last 5 games and in 2 of those they went over 130 points, which is exactly the number they dropped on the Wizards when the teams last met in late November. On the road they have gone over the total 5 times in their last 7, as they have in 8 of their last 12 games against Eastern Conference opponents.

The Wizards defense, on the other hand, does not inspire confidence, ranking just 21st in defensive efficiency and allowing 113.2 points per 100 possessions. Washington has gone over in 6 of its last 8 games played on a Tuesday and is 20-15-1 on the O/U in home games. For that reason, backing the over will be our best play.

NHL pick today: Vancouver Canucks vs St. Louis Blues – Over 6.5 goals, (-140), 8:07 pm ET

High totals have been prominent in the Blues’ season, and recent trends have held true. The over has hit in 7 of their last 9 games with an average game total of 8.00 during that span. St. Louis has also either scored or allowed 5+ goals in 6 of those games.

The Canucks are no strangers to high totals themselves. The over is 43-27-3 on their season including 25-11-1 on the road. The combined over under records of these teams is 86-51-9. Backing the over will be our play for this game.

NHL pick today: Dallas Stars -1.5 over Chicago Blackhawks (-110), 8:37 pm ET

There are not many teams in the NHL that are better to play than the Blackhawks when teams are looking to get right. Chicago was already a bad team, but has become even worse since the trade deadline, dropping its last 5 games by a combined score of 22-6. Dallas has scored 14 goals on Chicago in 3 head-to-head matchups this season. If the Stars can match that production, the Blackhawks should not be able to keep up. The Stars are 22-14 against the spread on the road this season, therefore backing them on the puck line will be our play.

NHL pick today: Winnipeg Jets 3-Way ML over San Jose Sharks (-110), 10:30 pm ET

The most glaring difference between these teams is their goaltending. Winnipeg has one of the league’s best in Connor Hellebuyck. He has led the NHL in saves made for 4 straight seasons and is in 3rd in that category this year. The Sharks traded away their primary goalscorer, Timo Meier, at the trade deadline, so they lack any significant threat.

San Jose’s goaltending has been as bad as ever. Since the calendar flipped to 2023, they’re allowing the most goals per game. Their last 3 games perfectly illustrate that, as they’ve allowed 17 goals over that span. With the discrepancy between the goaltending of these teams, backing the Jets in regulation will be our best bet.
