Champions League pick today: Borussia Dortmund ML over Chelsea (+340), 3:00 pm ET

Chelsea earned a hard-fought 1-0 EPL win over Leeds on Saturday but the London club’s ability to score enough goals is a huge concern ahead of this afternoon’s Champions League last-16 second-leg game against Borussia Dortmund. Before the Leeds win, the Blues had been shut out in 3 straight losses — including the 1-0 first-leg defeat in Dortmund.

The Germans have won all 10 of their games in 2023, and they should be backed to seal qualification with a victory at Stamford Bridge. There is a gap between these teams in terms of confidence and Dortmund has the attacking class to take advantage as Chelsea attempts to turn the tie around.

College Basketball pick today: College of Charleston Cougars -10 over UNC-Wilmington Seahawks (-110), 7:00 pm ET

The Colonial Athletic Championship features the Charleston Cougars and the Seahawks of UNC Wilmington. In the regular season Charleston won both meetings. At Wilmington it was a 2-point game, while at Charleston it was a 32-point margin. Charleston registers inside the top 75 on KenPom for both offense and defense, while Wilmington is outside the top 100 on defense and outside the top 200 on offense. Both teams are playing for the third consecutive day and I think that will favor the more talented Cougars in this one.

NHL pick today: Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5 over Philadelphia Flyers (-125), 7:00 pm ET

While the top 3 teams in the Atlantic Division have been all but solidified for months now, the Tampa Bay Lightning need to start building up some momentum heading into the playoffs.

The Lightning should only need a few goals to cover the puck line, and they’re the highest-scoring team on home ice this season (4.06/game). They have also defeated Philly in 8 of the last 10 meetings, with the 3 most recent victories coming by final scores of 4-1, 7-1 and 4-0. With an angry Lightning team back in Tampa, backing them to win in convincing fashion will be the play.

NHL pick today: Seattle Kraken -1.5 over Anaheim Ducks (-125), 10:07 pm ET

The big edge in this game goes to the Kraken based off how bad the Ducks’ defense has been of late. In the past month, the Ducks have been the worst team at allowing scoring chances at their net; they rank 32nd in expected goals against. This lack of defense has definitely cost them in allowing goals, as well, as they have allowed 3.92 goals per game since the start of February, which ranks 31st in the NHL.

The Kraken should be able to take advantage of the bad defense, as their offense has started to heat up. In their past 6 games the Kraken are averaging just under 4 goals per game (3.83). During that same 6-game stretch they also scored 4 of more goals 4 times. For that reason backing the Kraken to win by multiple goals will be the play.
