College Basketball pick today: Milwaukee Panthers vs Purdue Boilermakers – Under 142 points (-110), 6:30 pm ET

The best bet in this game is the under, as Milwaukee’s interior defense should be able to do just enough to keep Zach Edey and company from completely dominating this game. Granted, they didn’t face someone as imposing as Zach Edey, but the interior defense was the lone strength of the Panthers last year.

Last season, the Panthers ranked 346th in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency, and while they have a new coaching staff and several new players, it’s unlikely to see a finely-tuned offense on opening night, especially against an opponent of Purdue’s caliber. Purdue did struggle last season on the defensive end, ranking just 93rd in KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency, but we shouldn’t expect that defense to be challenged much in this matchup with Milwaukee, making the under the play for tonight.

College Football pick today: Ohio Bobcats -2 over Miami Ohio Redhawks (-110), 7:30 pm ET

MACtion resumes on Tuesday this week, featuring a ridiculous three Tuesday games. One key battle features Miami (OH) hosting Ohio University. Ohio has what is probably the best quarterback in the conference, and he is coming off of a 317-yard, 5-TD performance against a pretty decent Buffalo team last week.

Ohio has been beating teams in convincing fashion, and they seem to be on the rise down the final stretch of the season. Miami (OH) is 2-2 over the last 4 games, battling it out in close games each time. Ohio is still by far the better team, so backing them to cover will be the play tonight.

NHL pick today: Tampa Bay Lightning ML over Edmonton Oilers (-165), 7:30 pm ET

Back-to-backs aren’t a rarity in the NHL by any means, but it certainly doesn’t help when both of the games are on the road. That’s the situation the Oilers find themselves in, and their matchups are less than ideal. Not only do they have the Lightning in this matchup after playing in Washington on Monday night, they have the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers for their next 2 games.

As for the Lightning, they’ve worked their way back up to 4th place in the Atlantic Division after a mediocre start to the season. Slowing down Connor McDavid is certainly no easy job, but Tampa defenseman Victor Hedman is up to task.  The Lightning won their home meeting against the Oilers last season and their core remains intact to do it again.

NHL pick today: Minnesota Wild ML over Los Angeles Kings (-115), 10:30 pm ET

Both the Wild and Kings are both off to mediocre starts in comparison to their expectations coming into this season. Minnesota sits at 5-5-1, while Los Angeles has played a few more games at 7-6-1. With that in mind, the Wild have the luxury of entering this matchup with nearly a full week’s worth of rest.

It also helps that they have an advantageous matchup. The Kings were one of the best defensive teams in the NHL last season, but that is long by the wayside. They’re now allowing the 6th-most goals per game, and neither of their goaltenders have looked particularly great.

At the beginning of the season, the Kings beat the Wild 7-6, but that type of scoring is not something they can rely on, especially given they lost to the Chicago Blackhawks after scoring a single goal 2 games ago. The Wild may be away from home, but they’re rested enough to avenge that previous loss.
