EPL pick today: Manchester United ML over Crystal Palace (-145), 3:00 pm ET

Manchester United made it 10 straight home wins with a dramatic 2-1 derby victory over Premier League champions Manchester City over the weekend and the Red Devils should bank another 3 points at Crystal Palace.

A win over Crystal Palace in south London this afternoon would take them above Manchester City, who host Tottenham on Thursday, and this looks a good time to take on the Eagles, who have lost all 3 of their home games since Christmas. Patrick Vieira’s team again failed to score in Sunday’s 1-0 EPL loss at Chelsea, and the Eagles have taken just 3 points from 9 games against top-half teams, scoring only 5 goals in those matches. Based on the recent form of both sides, backing Manchester United will be the play.

College Basketball pick today: Oklahoma Sooners vs Oklahoma State Cowboys – Under 127.5 points (-110), 9:00 pm ET

The under looks to be the best play tonight because both teams play defense at a high level and both have been playing offense at a slow pace. Oklahoma State has shown flashes of being 1 of the best defenses in all of college basketball. According to KenPom, the Cowboy’s defense is ranked #6 in effective field-goal percentage and #8 in adjusted defensive efficiency.

Similarly, the Sooners have shown that they can be elite at guarding the 3-point line; they are ranked #11 in defensive 3-point percentage. For that reason, backing the under will be the play.

NHL pick today: Dallas Stars ML over San Jose Sharks (-155), 10:07 pm ET

The big advantage in this game is the Stars’ defense. Since the beginning of the month, they have been one of the best units in the league by doing an amazing job at keeping pressure and the scoring chances to a minimum, ranking 6th in expected goals against. This tough defense has translated into keeping the puck out of their net, as they rank 2nd in goals allowed per game, with a mark of 2.14, in the same time frame.

Trying to score on the Stars will be a Sharks attack that has been average at best. They currently rank 23rd, averaging 3.02 goals per game and only have been slightly better of late, where they are 17th in goals per game since the start of January. Look for a tough Stars defense to keep the Sharks’ offense limited, making the Stars worth a play tonight.

NBA pick today: Los Angeles Lakers +4.5 over Sacramento Kings (-105), 10:40 pm ET

After losing their first 2 contests against the Kings, the Lakers secured a 136-134 win on January 7 to cap off their 5-game winning streak. Although the Lakers are still 4 games below .500, they’ve played much better basketball of late, going 6-3 since December 30. LeBron James played in 7 of those games and helped the Lakers to a 5-2 record all while averaging 37 points, including a season-high 48 against the Houston Rockets on Monday.

These teams are very familiar with one another, and the Lakers are much improved in the New Year. Look for LeBron and the Lakers to keep things close down the stretch on their home court.
