I'm an NFL handicapper here at Pickswise who was raised in a household full of sports fanatics. Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

We’re getting ready for a full Sunday of NFL football and it’s also the last day of the MLB regular season, so the end of the weekend is jam-packed for sports fans. Let’s get into all of it!

About Last Night

Georgia, Alabama dominate
Alabama and Georgia continued on their collision course in the SEC. Both teams dominated highly ranked opponents on Saturday. Alabama beat No. 12 Ole Miss 42-21, while Georgia blew out No. 8 Arkansas 37-0. The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs look like the best two teams in college football, and it appears they’re headed for an epic showdown in a potential SEC Championship Game. What a clash that will be.

Giants fail to clinch division, AL wild card race gets bonkers
Well, it’s going to be a crazy MLB Sunday. The Giants failed to clinch the NL West on Saturday, so the Dodgers will be able to force a game 163 for the division if they win and the Giants lose. San Francisco will host the Padres while the Dodgers host the Brewers. Meanwhile in the AL, things are even wilder. Four teams are still alive in the wild card race with one game to go. The Yankees and Red Sox control their own destinies for the 2 wild-card spots, but the Mariners and Blue Jays can still make it as well. A four-way tie is even a real possibility. Buckle up.

Today’s Slate

MLB playoff race continues
We made it. It’s the final day of what has been a long and highly entertaining 2021 MLB regular season. Multiple postseason berths hang in the balance on Sunday. The playoffs are right around the corner, and here at Pickswise we have a ton of great content coming. Make sure to check out our free picks on the side and total for all 15 games today, and check back on that same page later in the week when our postseason predictions go live.

NFL Week 4 is here
Nothing beats Sundays this time of year. The first three weeks of the NFL season have been thrilling, so hopefully Week 4 can live up to those lofty standards. The early slate features an interesting game between the Browns and Vikings, as well as the Chiefs looking to avoid a third straight loss in Philadelphia. Two NFC West clashes highlight the late afternoon slate, as the Rams host the Cardinals and the 49ers host the Seahawks. Then for Sunday Night Football we’ll be treated to arguably the most highly anticipated game of the entire season, as Tom Brady makes his return to New England with the Buccaneers to take on his old coach Bill Belichick. Before locking in your card, take a look at our expert predictions for every NFL Week 4 game.

Best Bet of the Day

Seahawks @ 49ers under 52
4:05pm ET

In one of those aforementioned NFC West showdowns, we like the under a lot. The 49ers and Seahawks both need this game like blood, so it should be a more grueling, hard-fought game. One of the Cardinals or Rams are going to improve to 4-0 later today, so Seattle and San Francisco both desperately need to win here to keep pace in the division. Both sides are also dealing with some key injuries on offense. Although it looks like they’ll play, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf are both nursing injuries for the Seahawks, while George Kittle is banged up for the 49ers. Seattle’s offense has sputtered in the second half of games, and they haven’t scored a point in the third quarter all year. Read our full game preview for Seahawks @ 49ers.

Stat of the Day

Tom Brady is just 67 yards shy of the all-time NFL record for passing yards. Brady appears poised to pass Drew Brees in the record books during his return to Gillette Stadium.

Boost of the day

Tom Brady to throw for more than 67.5 passing yards in the first quarter

FanDuel Sportsbook is offering a fun odds boost that plays on our stat of the day. You can bet on whether Brady will break the passing yards record in the first quarter of Sunday Night Football, and FanDuel has lowered the odds from -170 to -120.
