Detroit has cashed the over in each of the first two games, finishing with combined totals of 61 and 72 points. The Lions topped the 30-point mark eight times last season and have already reached that number twice. The Jets have put up a total of 40 points through two games, including three points in the fourth quarter each time.
Detroit will look to run the ball against this New York rush defense, which sits third in EPA/Rush. Both the Lions and Jets rank in the top 10 in EPA/Pass (Detroit fifth, New York ninth), while Detroit’s defensive EPA/Pass is 23rd.
In his last 16 games against teams ranking in the top 15 in rushing yards allowed, Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs is averaging 72.4 rushing yards per game. Gibbs was held to 52 yards on the ground against Buffalo after putting up 152 yards in the opener against the Saints.
The total in each of Detroit’s first two games closed at 49.5 and 55.5, but this is their lowest total of the season at 47.5. This marks only the third game with a total of 47.5 under Jets coach Aaron Glenn, which went 1-1 in 2025.
The Jets allowed 27 or more points in seven of eight road games last season, but gave up 10 points at Tennessee in the season opener. However, the Titans are second-to-last in yards per game through two weeks (243.0), compared to 362.0 yards per game by Detroit. Look for the points to be put up in this interconference matchup in the Motor City.
