ARI vs SF Prediction, Odds and NFL Picks for Sunday, 09/27/26

The Cardinals pulled off a huge surprise in Week 1 with a 26-14 road victory over the Chargers as 9.5-point underdogs. Arizona wasn’t as fortunate in its home opener, falling to defending champion Seattle, 31-7.

The task doesn’t get easier on Sunday with a trip to Santa Clara to face the 2-0 49ers, who are off a pair of impressive victories over the Rams and Dolphins. San Francisco’s offense ranks first overall in success rate, second in EPA/pass, and eighth in EPA/rush. Arizona’s offense hasn’t exactly scared anyone, sitting 21st each in EPA/pass and EPA/rush.

San Francisco swept Arizona last season, although the home win came in a 16-15 squeaker. The Niners rolled the Cardinals on the road, 41-22, but were outgained by over 200 yards.

Arizona enters this matchup at 1-10 straight-up and 2-9 against the spread in the last 11 games, with the lone win coming in the season opener.

49ers QB Brock Purdy sits second in both EPA/pass and success rate through two weeks, while San Francisco is 4-1 in his five career starts against Arizona. In four of the past six road games for the Cardinals, they have lost by double-digits.

This is a big spot for San Francisco to avoid a letdown with games against the Broncos and Seahawks the next two weeks.

Both matchups last season had dramatically different results from a total standpoint. San Francisco edged Arizona, 16-15 without QB Brock Purdy in the first meeting in Santa Clara on a 44.5 total. Purdy returned for the next game in Arizona with the 49ers rolling to a 41-22 blowout, cashing the over on a 48.5 total.

The Niners allowed 20 total points in the first two wins after yielding 41 points in the divisional playoff loss at Seattle. Through two games this season, these NFC West rivals rank near the bottom of the league in aDOT (Average depth of target). 

Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett’s average yards per attempt against zone coverage is 4.6 compared to 13.0 against man coverage. San Francisco employs 80.7% zone coverage, which won’t bode well for Brissett’s success. In last season’s home loss to the 49ers, Brissett completed 47-of-57 passes for 452 yards, while both TD passes came in the fourth quarter with the game out of reach.

Arizona had one explosive play in last week’s loss to Seattle, compared to seven in the Week 1 win over the Chargers. San Francisco posted 11 explosive plays against Miami, which likely won’t repeat itself this week.
