SEA vs WAS Prediction, Odds and NFL Picks for Sunday, 09/27/26

The Washington Commanders are hoping to recover from a disastrous start to their 2026 NFL campaign, but it does not get any easier with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks coming to town for a Week 3 showdown on Sunday afternoon. Washington is 0-2 and quarterback Jayden Daniels once again suffered a dislocated elbow. It is unclear for how long Daniels will be out, but he is definitely missing Sunday's contest. It will be Marcus Mariota under center for the home side, and he is a competent backup QB in the NFL but certainly nothing special. Mariota played in 11 games last season and threw 10 touchdown passes to go along with seven interceptions. Needless to say, that is an uninspiring ratio. It should also be noted that the QB situation may be among the least of Washington's concerns. Five defensive starters carry an injury designation, including safety Nick Cross (undisclosed) being out. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are rolling along nicely at 2-0 even though they are also playing with a backup quarterback. Drew Lock has looked good in place of Sam Darnold so far, racking up 422 yards with four TDs and zero INTs. Darnold has a chance to return this weekend, but it shouldn't matter one way or the other. Seattle is the far superior side in pretty much every facet of the game.

Seahawks vs Commanders prediction: Seahawks -6.5 (-115) available at time of publishing. Playable to -7.

The Seahawks will either be playing with a Super Bowl winner (Darnold) or one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL (Lock), so their offense should be in good shape. Dating back to last season, Seattle has scored at least 29 points in four of its last five games. Now it faces an extremely banged-up Washington defense that is allowing 30.5 points per game so far. This is one of the smallest numbers of the week, thus creating value on backing points. My Seahawks vs Commanders pick is Over 40.5.

On the other side of the ball, the Commanders' offense is competent with Mariota calling the shots. The former Oregon standout has a ton of NFL experience and he got more of it last weekend after Daniels went down, completing 11 of 16 attempts for 111 yards with one touchdown and zero interceptions. Seattle's defense is no joke, but linebacker Ernest Jones IV and safety Ty Okada are questionable. This probably won't turn into an absolute shootout, but asking Sunday's game to exceed a modest 40.5 quota should not be too much.
