In case you were out and about on Halloween night, on the holiday, we had a matchup between the Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets. Well, they’re back at it again, which means it’s time to make more Stars vs Blue Jackets predictions.
It’s rare to see interconference matchups this frequently, and speaking of which, Dallas is coming off a high-scoring 6-5 win over the Washington Capitals. Prior to that was a lower-scoring 3-1 win over the Jackets, which is generally what we expect for a Stars team that features the Vezina Trophy favorite - Jake Oettinger. The elite netminder is what really sets these teams apart, and it’s also why we have a low 5.5 total. Overs are always tempting to take when that’s the case, but with Otter in net and Columbus being inconsistent offensively, we’re staying away from that approach with our Stars vs Blue Jackets prediction. Instead, we’re taking the road favorite.
While the Jackets did just have an impressive win over the Colorado Avalanche, the inconsistency makes it difficult to expect a repeat performance. So, with a very playable price to win in any fashion, that’s our preferred angle.
