When it comes to the New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets, they are two teams that have been on opposite spectrums in terms of goaltending. Well, Igor Shesterkin is done for the season in NY, so we could see a move made to boost things between the pipes. For now, it’s time for Rangers vs Blue Jackets predictions before that happens.
Following back-to-back home wins for New York, outscoring opponents 10-3, the team went on the road and got blasted by Jack Hughes and the New Jersey Devils 7-1. As for Columbus, the last time we saw them on the ice, they helped us cash both an over and Florida Panthers ML by losing 7-3. Given that each team just allowed seven goals in their last matchups, it is extremely tempting to take the over and call it a day. The issue is that while both teams rank well for that in terms of expected goals allowed, their offensive output doesn’t exactly support that Rangers vs Blue Jackets prediction.
Instead, we’re going to ride the competitiveness that Columbus has shown us -- even in that loss to the Panthers. We just haven’t loved the look of NY since losing Shesterkin, so it’s a Jackets win on home ice here.
