One of the featured matchups of a loaded Saturday slate is the Central Division rivalry in Nashville with the Predators hosting the Dallas Stars. Although it’s been Jason Robertson and company that have had the better seasons as of late, Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi still provide plenty of veteran leadership to help Nashville supporters with Stars vs Predators predictions.
As for this matchup specifically, the biggest benefit for the Preds is the fact that the Stars were both on the ice last night and at home, so they’ll be traveling in immediately after their first game of the season. Although Nashville lost their season opener on home ice to the Minnesota Wild, they are still very live to pull off this upset. Regardless, we’re going to avoid worrying about who wins this division rivalry at all and just root for goals for our best Stars vs Predators prediction.
Jake Oettinger - one of the NHL’s best goaltenders - was just in net for Dallas last night. That bodes well for Forsberg, Josi and the rest of Nashville to do more damage than they did against the Wild. We also started to see a bit of a decline from Juuse Saros last season, so both teams can find the back of the net to get us six or more goals here.
Stars vs Predators prediction: Over 5.5 Goals (-130) available at time of publishing. Playable to -140.
