Anaheim Ducks vs New York Rangers Prediction, Odds and NHL Picks for Today

The Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers both enter this game with something to prove after losing two straight games following hot starts to the season. Each organization entered the season with a ton of question marks, with the Ducks losing veteran depth on the blue line and the Rangers struggling over the past few seasons. While the Ducks' problem is sustaining a high level of play over 60 minutes, the Rangers’ roadblock was a season-ending injury to Igor Shesterkin. New York may turn to another external option later, but for now it is going with Dylan Garand. The rookie netminder has been solid, and the team's last 1-0 overtime loss was far from his fault.

Both of these teams are overperforming relative to their expected numbers, which doesn’t give a ton of optimism for this evening’s game or the rest of their seasons. The Rangers looked like the team from last season who couldn’t score in their last outing, and if they start to go that direction without a goaltender like Shesterkin, they could be in trouble. In the meantime, it’s hard to trust the Ducks to play a full 60 minutes to get the win, so we’ll ride with the goaltenders in this game and bet these offenses don't have enough to get over the 6.5 total.
